Guide to Using the kirupaForum - Getting Started

by kirupa   | filed under Web, HTML, CSS, and XML

This is an archived tutorial from the kirupa.com legacy collection. It covers software that may no longer be available, but it is kept online because the ideas still hold up.

First, kirupaForum is an online bulletin board also known as a web-forum. A web-forum similar to the kirupaForum is a collection of individual, categorized forums where people can write messages, reply to other people's messages, and do a lot of other cool things.

In this page I will explain what you need to do in order to post and become a part of the kirupaCommunity!

What to do first?

Register!

First, if you are interested in posting questions in the forums, you will need to register by clicking the Register link on the main forum home page:

[ registration is free and simple ]

Registration is not required if you choose to simply view the various posts and threads individuals have posted. If you are interested in joining in on a conversation or searching through the vast volume of information found on the forums, though, you will have to register.

Registration is free, and all you need to provide is a username you want to use on the forums, a password, and your e-mail address:

[ the registration screen ]

Don't worry, we do not share our e-mail addresses with anybody. After you register, check your mail box for an e-mail from the forums. It will contain a link you must click in order to activate your account. You will be unable to post new messages without first activating your account.

After you have activated your account and logged-in, you will see a brief welcome area on your top-right that shows your username, when you last logged on, and the number of private messages you have accumulated:

Just a final word before we wrap up. What you've seen here is freshly baked content without added preservatives, artificial intelligence, ads, and algorithm-driven doodads. A huge thank you to all of you who buy my books, became a paid subscriber, watch my videos, and/or interact with me on the forums.

Your support keeps this site going! 😇
