Shape tweening is
different from the common Motion Tween. In a comical sense, Shape
tweening will do anything in it's power to "morph" from
one state to another. See the example below:
To simplify this process, please
download the source code by clicking here.
Of course, this source code will not have all the steps in it.
You'll fill in those steps by using the information given below.
First,
launch your Flash application. Then, open the source code you
just downloaded. The file should be called
"shapetween.fla"
Once
you opened the file, you should basically see 2 keyframes. You
can click on each of the keyframes and notice that the first
keyframe is a square and the second keyframe is a circle. Now,
it's time to add the Shape tween in. First, right click on the
first keyframe and choose Panel > Frame. You should see a
window similar to this:
Once
you are at the window seen in the picture above, click on the
Tweening pull down menu and choose "Shape". See image
below:
Now
that you selected the "Shape" tween, you should notice
that your timeline gets modified to show the tween. Also, note
that the color of a shape tween is a "light green"
instead of the "violet" that is seen on motion tweens.
Your timeline should look similar to the image below:
You can use Shape Tweening on almost
any object that has been broken down. To make sure your object has
been broken down, select the object and press Ctrl + B. That is the
command for breaking apart an object. Shape Tweens do not work on
Grouped Objects or Grouped Symbols. Also, if you are wishing to
Shape tween text, you'll have to Break apart the text by using Ctrl
+ B after you've typed your word. The only problem is, that if you
wish to modify the text content, you'll have to insert a new piece
of text. You cannot edit broken-apart text.
I hope the information helped.
