Congratulations to IamTheJuggler, Enebreus, and freeskier89 for having the top winning entries. All of this is possible with the help of the judges (adam, nokrev, krilnon, thecanadian, and me) who narrowed the entries down to a more manageable size for voting.

 Summary

Do you want to show-off your mad ActionScript skills in the new year? The goal is to create an animation that makes circles move around the screen in the most interesting and creative way. Create your own or download a sample AS3 source file and modify it to get started.

Guidelines

  1. Your animation may be code based or it may be tweens. If you want some help creating your own animation using code, feel free to look at a sample that I have created.
  2. You can use either ActionScript 2 or ActionScript 3 for your animations. If you want to use Silverlight / C#, you may do so as well.
  3. Your animation's size must be 500px wide and 300px tall. No exceptions.
  4. Because the goal of this contest is to have circles move around in clever and interesting ways, you must only use circles. No other shapes or images will be allowed. Solid colored or gradient colored backgrounds are OK.
  5. Feel free to be creative in your use of color.
  6. Once you have created your entry, create a new thread in the FXpression 09 forum with the subject being your entry title.

In the body of our post, provide a link to a location where we can preview your animation. Finally, attach your SWF file as a Zip file to the post. To learn how to use attachments, click here.

For an example of what an entry should look like, click here to check out my sample entry.
  7. You can submit as many entries as you want, but be sure to create a new thread for each entry.
  8. This contest ends January 20th at midnight (Pacific Standard Time), so don't wait until the last minute to submit your entry.

Judging
The judging will be split into two rounds. In the first round, a handful of judges will narrow all of the entries into the Top 10. These Top 10 entries will be placed into a public poll where everyone can vote to select the Top 3.

Entries will be judged on how cool the movement / animation of the circles is.

Prizes
All prizes will be handed out via PayPal, so be sure you have the ability to receive a payment via PayPal from the United States. First place will receive $200, second place will receive $150, and third place will receive $100.
