Thread: How many datasets should a project have?

How many datasets should a project have?

I am developing a Windows Forms application in VS 2008 Express. I have created one dataset for the entire project thus far. It contains all the tables and tableadapters I will need in the project. Right now the project consists of only two forms. One to add and change metadata and the other to do the main data entry into the program. I am expecting this project to grow over time.

Should I have just one dataset for the entire project, or should I make datasets as needed for my forms? For example, my metadata form only deals with two tables in the database. Should I have dataset for that form containing only those tables and tableadapters? Does it matter? Will coding be easier?

Hi, depends how is ur work is organized.
For example, u got a managerial application used to store the contacts, record the expenses and much more...well, I would create a dataset for every task.
Just my opinion, hope it helps .
