    Query adds two records

    Hi folks,

    Have simple query to MYSQL database, executes fine, but adds two records instead of just the one.

    Any ideas?

    Here's my code

    This is what I'm using.

    PHP Code:
    mysql_select_db($database) or die( "Unable to select database");

    $query="INSERT INTO properties

    (prop_Name, prop_Region, prop_Banner)
    $name', '$region', '$banner')";

    mysql_query ($query);

    if (!
    'Error: ' mysql_error());

    your query is running twice:
    PHP Code:
    mysql_query ($query); // 1st time

    if (!mysql_query($query)) // 2nd time
    'Error: ' mysql_error());
    so use something like:
    PHP Code:
    $result mysql_query$query ) or die( mysql_error() );
    also, this method of taking $_POST variables straight into a query is ripe for a SQL injection attack. i highly advise against this.

    That's great man, thanks.

    re: the form variables, how would you advise handling them.
