Pixel collaboration project ideas...

I'm a huge fan of collaborative pixel work like PixelMoon and PixelGala.org and I'd really like to get a pixel collaboration project going. Before I get started I wanted to fish for ideas and feedback. Would any of you be interested in contributing? A couple of simple ideas...

Pixel Zoo - Isometric or horizontal scrolling front on view. Love to see everyone's take on their favorite animals.

Pixel Club - Isometric club scene. Perfect place for some cool animations.

Pixel Mall - Isometic or horizontal scrolling front on view. Stores and people milling about.

Pixel Fight - Put some of those great warrior posing animations to good use. Don't really have a good idea of putting this one together, but I think it would be *****in'.

Shoot back with ideas and lemme know if you are interested.

Thanks!

Monkeys will most definitely be a popular animal in the Pixel Zoo.

Thanks for throwing fish in the barrel Desire.

He's standing behind the tram thing, middle of the right page

In relation to the idea, you could do a side scrolling world, and it doesn't really matter what the scene is, as long as it meshes with the scenes on either side, and just make each "frame" a set size.

Sounds like a good idea.

Desire: A theme park or circus would be a great idea. If the project is in isometric perspective the scene will probably sprawl like the Waldo picture.

dreeft: Good job on finding Waldo! A sidescrolling world would be cool. The tile blending might be an issue since I don't have the time to coordinate with people to make sure the tiles match with each other... if there's a common template that people could use that ties together the borders automagically it makes it easier for people to submit work.

billstar: Pixel penguin city could be a tile (or tiles) in the Pixel Zoo maybe.

"hello and welcome P,P City the place thats cold but sure to give you a thirl"

lol

yeah tileing up peoples work together is gonne be hard, maybe some one should make a floor for the whole scene and then the people just have to make the objects to fit and give them a size for the object? u just got to keep everything in scale though so remember those pixels.

lol

behind train/tram right page = wally
bottom left corver behind the gun tent = wonda
bottom middle left page behind cocunut tent = dog (u can only ever see his tail)
behind horse round about thing right page = waldo
behind red gambeling machine middle left page= wizard whitebeard

Hey! The Pixel People link doesn't work!
All this talk of pixel art reminded me of that, but apparently it's not up anymore.

Desire: Yeah, definitely going to have a template available to keep it together.

senocular: Whatever that is, it's cool!

fester8542: Thanks Sox fan. Hopefully I'll only have to put up two or three tiles to get it going.

Sintax at one point in time decided to no longer work on the pixel people page. After consistent buggering and people wanting its return (or to be added) Sin proposed that a new person take over the project. I tried desperately to be that person but Sin just wouldn't have it and gave it to Coppertop instead. In reaction to that poor decision I created Kirupa Eville entirely from scratch (notice Sin and Copper in the upper left with mustaches). After Copper basically did nothing with the project and it went lame, I pretty much gave up on Kirupa Eville too (interest was dying down and I think the thread got closed because of flaming or something). What you see in the link I posted was the last state of Kirupa Eville before it went on haitus.

Looks like Pixel Zoo has been consistantly popular on the different forums I've posted to. The zoo will be isometric (sorry if that's not original), but there will be a place for people to submit pixel art animals in any perspective (48x48 max). I'm going to start on a template and a couple of tiles and hopefully have the site ready for submissions in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the help!

BTW, no reason to kill off this thread if y'all have more pixel collaboration ideas or additional feedback.
