Smoke from PNG by ActionScript 2?

Hello,

Long long time ago I created my protfolio www.Narhir.com it was around one year ago. when I was designing it I got so many so cool ideas now one and half year has passed.. soon I will have to do a new portfolio probably but I even was unable to realise my ideas with the first one ...

So I was just wandering here are so many extreamly clever guys and someone would be able to tell me how to do that kind of effect

Smoke:
The main idea was to have smoke like fog or something lik that withone is jsut going out from behind of the main content of website... however currently it is only "poofing"

Plan to do that was easy... making few png files with clouds blurr them in propeties then resize behind the body of website and put one on another so all the time there would be smoke but.. OFCOURSE It wouldnt work.. because it was eating 100% of CPU on fastest computer

and here is the question is there any Idea to do that on Action Script ? and dont make it to eat up to 100% CPU ?

If anyone know what can I do to improve this smoke please let me know also if anyone have any others good ideas also please let me know ahh and those background flowers I was planning to aniate them also.. but it wouldnt work:/

so.. could someone just try to read the post above and think for answear for a while ?

create a random function that loads lots of balls.
make those balls walk around randomly and make them get smaller as they wallk away from the starting point.

then in the filters properties play around with the bur amount.

that should do it...


ah, and forget the png file. you wont need it.
or check the tutorial area for special effects...

Thank you for your answear but im not sure if it will look better... with something like that I was rather thinkin about doing smoke In after effects then mnoving it into flash ?

As Pantas mentioned you can code up some particles, you can even use small png files that get attatched and removed all randomly as smoke.

Here is a whole particle kit for example...

However you could easily just code your own. Plus the files size and performance would beat having an embedded After effects video for the smoke on your site (I would think in most cases).
