GIMP, Change From Spanish to English_help please
I downloaded and installed GIMP 2.2.1 doing all in English, however my Windows XP Home is installed in Spanish because I live in Spain, and I am advised this saves a lot of problems , right! The installation recognizes the language it is installed as and automatically changed to Spanish. I would like to be able to use GIMP in English, although I can use the Spanish, I am not exactly proficient.
Will someone please help me ? Thanks......
Jack

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my problem. As for the tact, I have, it won't, so I don't. I have absolutely no concept of how to insert the English miu (or whatever) into the correct folder. If you know precisely where I should go.........please give me the push in the right direction. Hybrid, I am using GIMP 2.2............if this is of any help. Spanish.
Syko: I will consider attempting your cure, but I confess, it scares me, thank you.
Thank you both.

In windows, you should be able to change the languge of gtk+ to english by adding a new environment variable 'lang' with a value of 'c'.
( right-click on My Computer -> properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables )

Hello Syko,
OK, did you used to live in a bottle washed up on a beach somewhere? THANK YOU for the how-to on the GIMP-to-English solution. I timidly followed your very exact instructions, opened my GIMP 2.2, and WOW, it is in English. You got to be a geni-us. Thanks again. Jack Do you have a webpage you recommend for learning more about Windows and PCs in simple terms as you have shared with me?

Scroll down to the solution offered by SYKO...........it worked for me. My OS is Spanish, my GIMP was Spanish, and after following his extremely simple instructions, voilá it is now operating in English.........be sure to make a restore point before trying it.
None of what I say here is valid if you are not using Windows.

Did you look in the documentation, under Language?
They have several suggestions, for each operating system. (If anyone's using Mac here, the GNU/Linux solution works under Mac also, for those installing gimp via MacPorts.)

removing translations
this thread's old, but it came up high in google in response to my question, so i'll answer it.
I tried doing sykon's suggestion, but i'm in korea on a korean computer, finding "advanced->environment variables" is not a trivial task
Just uninstall. When you reinstall, click on "customize installation" or something like that. Unclick "translations." Done! It will now be in English no matter what.
