Splash check

Hey guys, just went though the season transition for my website and i came up with this logo for my splash page. I wanted something colorful and simple. Please provide some C&C so i can improve.

First thing I noticed is that the 'y' in 'Photography' looks very odd. I would recommend re-working your type to make it as solid as possible, since it's the focus of the page. Your current font choice makes me think Army / Terminator / G.I. Joe, not so much "autumn glow near a woodland pond".

Also, why are you making a splash page?

Thanks, ill look into another font choice.

I want a splash as a landing for people who visit my site, and to provide them some simple navigation. I am building a community and want people to have the choice of going to the main site or forum. I feel it helps tie everything together.

A splash page is an instant page-closer for me. Not worth it, I would move on.

Yeah... lemme stop you right there. Splash screens are out. I immediately dismiss sites with splash screens.

The only reason to ever use one is if there's something that the user absolutely has to be prompted with before entering the site, like if you had to check their date of birth or something. They almost never add to the value of a site.
