How do you add default items to authoring environment

I want to create a combo box with default items in it and then add it to the library within the authoring environment. It appears all the google searches out there only show how to add items to the combo box at runtime via actionscript. Is there any way to set some default values when I add it to the library? In general, how do you set defaults for flash components? There does not seem to be an intuitive way to do this in the authoring environment.

ok nevermind. found the Component Inspector.
