    [php/mysql]php function result inside mysql query, possible?.

    Hi ya'll

    I'm wondering if it is possible to make a function that will handle all checkbox values(0 or 1), and that the result of the function will be places inside the query statement.

    The result needs to appear at the place where I call the function.

    So I don’t have to handle all checkboxes individually.
    I have multiple checkboxes in one form so using a global var doesn’t do the trick, although not in this example but I want to reusing the function.

    The function that checks the values is called ‘proc_chkbox’ as in proc(ess) ch(ec)kbox and the column is called ‘art_req_opt_active’

    PHP Code:
    function proc_chkbox($i){
        if(empty(
    $i)){
            echo
    0;
        }else{
            echo
    1;
        }
    }
    if(
    $_GET['action'] == 'new'){
    $date date(YmdHis);

    echo
    $_POST['art_req_opt_name'].'<br />';
    echo
    $_POST['art_req_opt_active'].'<br />';

    $qry "INSERT INTO art_req_options (art_req_opt_name, art_req_opt_active, art_req_opt_date) VALUES(
        '"
    .$_POST['art_req_opt_name']."', ".proc_chkbox($_POST['art_req_opt_active']).", $date)"
    Thx in advance

    no probs. you could also use true or false for 1 or 0 which would make the code cleaner

    PHP Code:
    function proc_chkbox($i){
        if(empty(
    $i)){
            return
    false
        }else{
            return
    true;
        }
