Everybody! This is important. In a few days, these forums will be moving over to using the totally sweet Discourse platform. To ensure this migration happens smoothly with no loss of content, these forums are currently in a read-only mode. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

There is never a good time to turn the forums off for an extended period of time, but I promise the new forums will be a billion times better. I'm pretty sure of it.

See you all on the other side in a few days, and if you have any (non-technical) questions, please e-mail me at kirupa@kirupa.com. For technical questions, try to find a tutorial that corresponds to what you are looking for and post in the comments section of that page.

    Making light behind tekst

    Hello all,

I am looking for a tutorial (or maybe some of you guys can help) in how to create (hard to explain) light showing behind a tekst or picture. It's something that user upuaut8 is using it in his signature.

This is the picture I'd like to use:

Well, you can't do it with Swift3D, which is this forum's center. There are a couple of threads in the Flash 5 forum that talk about lighting effects, mine in particular, and where the tutorial and free .swf download are.

You can do it in Swish v2.0 though. Just open the Sample file "ray of light" and edit it to your liking. You can export it to .swf too.
