    sending email without mail()

    I have a site hosted at byethost. They says sendmail supported. The mail() function returns true. But the mail is not received.
    So I used the phpmailer to use gmail SMTP. It is working. In the received mail my gmail id is shown. I changed the AddReplyTo and SetFrom in Phpmailer. But it is displayed as if I send it from my gmail account.

    This hosting service has a webmail service pop3.
    How to use that service in php to send mail so that mail@mydomain.com is displayed in the received mail?
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

    if they say they support it, and its not working, best thing is to contact them and tell them its broken... most likely they will either fix their server problem, or help you with your script.

    a simple phonecall works best

    You can never underestimate the stupidity of the general public.

    Use the localhost SMTP with pear mail. its quite good:

    http://pear.php.net/package/Mail

    Check you have pear installed first in you php.ini.

    I use it quite a lot as it helps avoid some spam issues. It's usally very reliable.
    while ( ! ( succeed = try() ) );
