Everybody! This is important. In a few days, these forums will be moving over to using the totally sweet Discourse platform. To ensure this migration happens smoothly with no loss of content, these forums are currently in a read-only mode. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

There is never a good time to turn the forums off for an extended period of time, but I promise the new forums will be a billion times better. I'm pretty sure of it.

See you all on the other side in a few days, and if you have any (non-technical) questions, please e-mail me at kirupa@kirupa.com. For technical questions, try to find a tutorial that corresponds to what you are looking for and post in the comments section of that page.

    getting php data into flash AS 2.0

    Code:
    <?=strip_tags($site['site_title'],'<b><i><span><u><font><em><strong>');?>
    Hi.. the above code places a "tittle" at the top of an html page. the data comes from a cms

    now i would like to duplicate this functionality and have that same code place that same "tittle" in a swf flash file.

    I've created the dynamic text field inside the flash file but I don't know what actioncdript to use to pull the tittle data into flash.

    the swf file and admin.php page wish holds the "tittle" code reside in the same folder at the root of the server.

    can anyone help? thank you.

    ok I gave the dynamic flash text field the var: name "site" coverted it to a movie clip and added this code to it:

    Code:
    onClipEvent (load) {
      loadVariables("http://mysite.com/admin.php", this, "GET");
    }
    then I added this code to the admin.php :

    Code:
    <?
    <?php
    $sites = "texthere";
    print $site;

    print "myVar=$site";
    ?>
    but it is not working it is not pulling in the "$site" data its actually making the admin.php page not load.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
