Everybody! This is important. In a few days, these forums will be moving over to using the totally sweet Discourse platform. To ensure this migration happens smoothly with no loss of content, these forums are currently in a read-only mode. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

There is never a good time to turn the forums off for an extended period of time, but I promise the new forums will be a billion times better. I'm pretty sure of it.

See you all on the other side in a few days, and if you have any (non-technical) questions, please e-mail me at kirupa@kirupa.com. For technical questions, try to find a tutorial that corresponds to what you are looking for and post in the comments section of that page.

Cheers,
Kirupa

Thread: Atan2 trouble

    Afrostyle Atan2 trouble

    I have a kind of... well... tower defence game kinda deal that i'm making and there are a small problem with it.

    I want the bullet to fire in the direction that the turret is facing and continue along that path. i already have everything else.

    also i would like the turret to stick every 10 pixles to the grid... any way to do that?

    please download the file and see what you can do. its also quite a cool game so you can have a look at the script too.

    :-D thanks,

    uhm, atan2 is for turning coordinates into an angle. use sin/cos like this:

    _x += cos(angle) * speed;
    _y += sin(angle) * speed;

    and just set angle to whatever angle the tower is facing when the bullet spawns
