Thread: need help with correct path to db

  1. #1

    need help with correct path to db

    I have one that is correct for another server, so I used that one as my basis for this one
    Code:
    Set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") conn.Open "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=\\content\main_data\onlineNew.mdb;"
     SQL = "INSERT INTO table1
    But I get an incorrect path error, for the above and DBQ=\\onlineNew.mdb & DBQ=\\content\onlineNew.mdb

    For simplicity and testing I have my form, ASP script & db named onlineNew.mdb all in one directory on a 3rd party ASP server.

    Also do I need to set file permissions on onlineNew.mdb?

  2. #2
    I think I am closer. I now have DBQ=" & Server.MapPath ("onlineNewCreative.mdb")

    and I'm getting Number of query values and destination fields are not the same

    closer still, I think, getting this error Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression ''' '''. for this line:
    conn.Execute SQL, recaffected

    Code:
    Function RecordInDB
     Set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    conn.Open "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=" & Server.MapPath ("onlineNewCreative.mdb")
     SQL = "INSERT INTO table1 (firstname, lastname,  rep_firstname, rep_lastname, artist_firstname, artist_lastname, advertiser, acct_number, click_thru, proof_needed, start_date, ad_type, creative_instruction) VALUES ('" &  strfirstname & "','" &  strlastname & "','" & strrep_firstname & "','" & strrep_lastname & "','" & strartist_firstname & "','" & strartist_lastname & "','" & stradvertiser & "','" & stracct_number & "', '" & strclick_thru & "' '" & strproof_needed & "','" & strstart_date  & "','" & strad_type & "','" & strcreative_instruction  & "')"
    conn.Execute SQL, recaffected
    End Function
