change permissions
i've downloaded a guestbook file:
but i dont understand this part;
....
3) Change the permissions of the 'GuestBook.txt' file to 777.
what is permissions? if you're using geocities or brinkster, how can you change permissions?. which button should i press?

use SmartFTP! The best ftp program I've seen so far!
With WS_ftp you can right click on the file once uploaded and select 'chmod' - Just check all the boxes off.
But with SmartFTp you can right-click the file, select properties and type in 777 in the permission textbox!

Yep, it's true ! Got SmartFTP too, simply right click it, select properties and you can enter permissions (with checkboxes or the 777 number, very easy to use). Great program
