Everybody! This is important. In a few days, these forums will be moving over to using the totally sweet Discourse platform. To ensure this migration happens smoothly with no loss of content, these forums are currently in a read-only mode. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

There is never a good time to turn the forums off for an extended period of time, but I promise the new forums will be a billion times better. I'm pretty sure of it.

See you all on the other side in a few days, and if you have any (non-technical) questions, please e-mail me at kirupa@kirupa.com. For technical questions, try to find a tutorial that corresponds to what you are looking for and post in the comments section of that page.

Cheers,
Kirupa

    Webpage/site redirection

    I dont know for sure if this is the correct category, or if it can be done with java script. but how do you redirect from one webpages ip to another?
    thing is, i just switched hosts recently [last month] and there are quite a few folk thatre are still seeing my 'old' site.

    you can set a redirect meta tag or javascript (location='your page'. you can also use php's header function if need be. is this what youre talking about?

    just to add to what skOOb is referring to, this is the code for the redirect meta tag

    Code:
    <META http-equiv="refresh" content="5;URL=http://www.google.com">
    the first value (5) is the amount of seconds until the page redirects. If you want people to read a message before being redirected 5's fine, if you want it to happen almost instantly then obviously 1's your best bet

    the URL value is the URL they're being redirected to
    now with blog, click here

    Mmk. well, the meta thing is nice, but can i use an ip [11.111.111.11] in lieu of a text url?
