    Please Help! General Programming Question

    Hi everyone, I just joined Kirupa today, you guys really seem to know what you're talking about, and I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question;
    First a little background - I want to create a website/page that is kind of similair to the pixelart cities you see, where there is a 'road' block and an empty 'city block' block, and as people submit their own city blocks, you update them on the server, and then everyone is able to see the new block. (There would be many on one page, at least 30), see
    www.x-panded.com/pixeldam for a good idea of what I want to do.

    I used to be a C++/Java programmer, and that was 2 years ago, I have relatively no idea when you would use xml, css, xml, php, asp, etc...I need to simply know which one would be the best for what I want to do (Basically layering png files, and keeping track of which person owns whixh city block). Then I can run off and chck out tutes, and the like, it's just that I go to "Php tutorials" and they are talking about things I have no idea about, like "Use Php if you want dynamic redirects" (made up example) and they don't even explain what "dynamic redirects" are, this is a fake example.

    Don't bother telling me how hard this is, if it is, because I am quite dedicated to this matter right now.

    Any help is appreciated,
    thanks!

    have you seen our very own pixel city here at kirupa?

    http://www.kirupa.com/lab/kville/main.htm

    that was created by the guys here at kirupa, so i'm sure that kirupa himself could at least advise you of the best way to create it. Might be an idea to email him?

    good luck.
    I sing like Dali and paint like Marley - That's a problem!
