Everybody! This is important. In a few days, these forums will be moving over to using the totally sweet Discourse platform. To ensure this migration happens smoothly with no loss of content, these forums are currently in a read-only mode. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

There is never a good time to turn the forums off for an extended period of time, but I promise the new forums will be a billion times better. I'm pretty sure of it.

See you all on the other side in a few days, and if you have any (non-technical) questions, please e-mail me at kirupa@kirupa.com. For technical questions, try to find a tutorial that corresponds to what you are looking for and post in the comments section of that page.

Cheers,
Kirupa

What and how does it compare with other languages
Ive found some resources online and am going to check
those out but I really just wanted to get some feedback
from some actual users so maybe I get started in the

I agree, python is great for a general computer language. PHP is for the web.

Python is for the web as well (it's a MUCH more elegant language than PHP) but not many hosts support it (I'm still looking for a host with decent mod_python support )

python works fine to me when writing scripts that perform maintenance tasks on my system, but never tried for web. anyway, i think php is a mature language if compared to python, so let's wait to see in a close future... anyway, it's an easy language, and pretty useful to me...

    Blender uses Python

Its a well known, respectable language and Id suggest getting yourself into it if you have the time to spare
