View Full Version : Help decide the future of Lostinbeta!!!
lostinbeta

Ok, this poll is all about the decision on what splash screen I should use for my next version.
You may ask... "What does a splash page have to do with deciding the future of Lostinbeta?", or you may not, but I will tell you that answer anyway. The answer is because that splash page will determine the look inside as well because the colors used with have to be different.
Please note that the winner of this poll may not necessarily be the one I use, but it will help me in my decision if I see which ones most people like and find out why :)
There are 2 versions of each color, 1 version with me, and another version without me.
Thank you to everyone who decides to vote and/or put in input on the subject.

I call it "the look & feel" of the site.
I agree, it must start here...

Hmm, 2 votes and I didn't vote :q:
Makes me wonder who else did...lol.
But yeah, it does define the look at feel of the site. And it will let me know what I have to change in the layout as well while I am working on it :)

It was weird.
I looked to see if anyone voted before me, there were no votes. I then voted, made a comment, changed that comment, and there were 2 votes...

I think that the grass looks bettr when it has some colour to it, so I voted for version 4 there. I think the other two are a bit too bright, compared to the background. And I like the character. :)

November 27th, 2002, 10:04 AM
version 4 type 1 I think the colors were more complimentary and seem to mesh together so that is what I voted and why.. They all look nice tho! my .02

4 type 1.....There......I made the decision 4 U. I know how it is when you are stuck between two thoughts equally. You need someone to tip u in a direction. 4 type 1 just flows 2gether.

I vote for four two, or four four or for one four or for two four or...
kindaof complicated:) hard to vote:P
Kiding! The 4 series is the best!
If you want something personal: 4-1!
If you want something proffesional 4-2!

I voted 4 type 1, just to give notice.
mdipi
November 28th, 2002, 08:28 PM
h88 i did too, but see i just started to stair at 1,1 and it doesnt look all that bad, but that is after a while of looking at it. Splash pages are usually fast, so maybe you should put 4,1 as the splash, and 1,1 on the inside. that would look good, you spend more time inside then out, correct?
lostinbeta
November 28th, 2002, 10:01 PM
I am actually still reworking the inside guts :)
Not sure if it will be like the splash page exactly or not. Right now it is, but I have ideas kickin' around in my head :)

November 28th, 2002, 10:03 PM
Yeah Mdipi, 1,1 is matching the pants, well, i did'nt notice that, i think i changed my vote now. :)

For a while I lay in a sort of pleasant trance.
Presently, after lying quietly for some minutes, I opened my eyes and looked upwards. As I did so I made out a brilliant little dot, at the extremity of this long, gigantic telescope.
It was a star without scintillating rays. According to my
calculation, it must be [lostin]Beta in the constellation of the Little Bear.
After this little bit of astronomical recreation, I dropped into a
sound sleep.

Hmm, well.....
My beliefs and such are strongly influenced by Native American beliefs because of my parents.
My Dad was the first person to get me interested in science, space such. And one of the first constallations he showed me was little bear.
We were in Maryland and we had his telescope.

"<i>Merlin, in his malice, has woven a spell about this dungeon, and there bides not the man in these kingdoms that would be desperate enough to essay to cross its lines with you! Now God pity me, I have told it!
Ah, be kind to me, be merciful to a poor boy who means thee well; for an thou betray me </i><b>I am lost!</b>"

Lost, take the 3 most popular and use some JS...
I don't know it, but its something like...
// Example: // randomImage(['0.gif',50,50,'1.gif',25,25,'2.gif',50,25]);
randomImage
(imgArr) { var imgSrc, imgW, imgH, r; r = randomNumber
(imgArr.length / 3)-1; imgSrc = imgArr[r * 3]; imgW = imgArr[(r * 3)
+1]; imgH = imgArr[(r * 3)+2]; document.write(''); }

My way is definitely different from yours though :-\
I don't think I am going to make it random though. Still haven't decided on that.

December 2nd, 2002, 12:17 AM
just curious lost:
do you know of a diff. wysiwyg editor which is easier to read for the untrained eye?
I have a couple of friends who might be able to use that...
Rev:elderly:
lostinbeta
December 2nd, 2002, 12:20 AM
Ermmm, I use dreamweaver, but I code fully by hand. I use dreamweaver for the color coding of PHP, Javascript and HTML and how it shows me where errors are and such.
Every WYSIWYG editor I have seen that does things for you has produced unreadable code.
