Logo Competition ($300 first prize)

Yep, that's right, another logo thread. This one is better though. I promise. $300 US better. A chum of my dad's sent this my way:

Bruce Kessler of Kessler GIS wants a new business logo. Mr. Kessler will pay $300 for the winning design and $100 each for the two runner-ups. It will be used on letterhead, the web-site, business cards, etc. It must be unique, bold, but not too flashy. The typical client is very computer literate. Applicants may enter more than one design.

Now morse, why didn't you post this in the contests forum? Because D&D badly needs some action.

Here's the deal guys. $300 check to design a new logo for Kessler GIS.

Deadline: May 27, 2005
Objective: Logo simple enough to look good on a business card yet good for a web page, as well as business card design including this image (http://www.morsedesigns.com/images/esri.png) and the following information: Address, two phone numbers, email, and this quote: "Geographic Information Systems Education, Training & Consulting"

Well, I'm not a designer, and can't say I've ever designed a logo before. But I do GIS for a living so maybe I should give it a shot. :)

Ok so this purpose is to make a logo, for GSI correct? Just the logo, not the card. And that ESRI logo WILL be on the business card, that eventually so will this logo?

I'm just trying to get things straight, a quick response would be great! Thanks :D

It's GIS (geographic information systems) and no the ESRI logo will NOT be on the card (I don't think) - the link to esri was given for those who don't know what GIS is.

Yeah thanks lunatic, I was just trying to make sure is that logo will be on the card. So that means, I'm going to have to make a logo, that will have to be compatible with that crappy clip art! AH!

Looks good. but the GIS letters, IMO did not sit well with that round faded ring.

Nice but doesn;t suit the company. If I'm correct it's much to do with maps & geography, so it should somehow echo that with the logo.

I'll give it a go if I have time.

yeah simps right, don't ask for comments on your logos, it is a competition and so you should be making your own decisions on what your going to enter.

Ugh I'm so confused! If thats not what we're supposed to do, then what is logo supposed to consist! I mean, the mission is really wierd. It asks for a logo, but then talks about some other clip and some address?! Ah

Kessler GIS is a GIS company - they want their own logo - but they are also certified by ESRI for training and they want their clients to know it. When a GIS person sees the ESRI logo they make that connection.

So you need to make a GIS logo for Kessler that includes the words education, training, consulting but also find a place for the ESRI logo.

The logo has no template.. its your depiction of what the logo should be.. thats what logo designing is about.

grinch, don't sweat all that crap. He wants a new logo first and foremost, but also would like a new business card too. Since we're (almost) all designers here, there's no reason we can't go a little above and beyond.

Nope, he doesn't have a site currently, it's getting set up as I type. More or less ;). You guys don't need to post what you've come up with... I'll get to see it anyways in a few weeks :beam:. The reason I didn't just keep this contest to myself and the few other people he's told, is because I've already got the website contract :P.

I may be kinda late at reading this, but I may have ALOT of people wanting in on this. Wont know for sure untill I recieve e-mail from another. But this group are a remarkable group that learn fast. So they should pick up on what you want and they can deffinitly come up with the requirments. It is only the 13th so they have a little tiem left.
