I was wondering if anybody here had any idea as to why my Photoshop displays incorrect colors. For example, a dark blood-red in my photoshop looks faint, washed out lighter red.

Here's what I've tried since this has happened:
Swapped video cards: Nvidia Ti200 64 meg to Nvidia 6800 GT 256 mb
Swapped processors: AMD XP 1800 to AMD 64 3000+
Swapped RAM: Muskin PC2700 512 to Muskin PC3200 1024
Swapped Mobo: Asus A7A266 to Asus A8V Deluxe
Upraded OS: Windows XP to Windows XP SP2
Upgraded Photoshop: CS to CS2
Tested different FTP programs.

I'm out of stuff to investigate. The only thing I think I can try is uninstalling my monitor software, and profiles, and re-installing them. But my settings are on default.

Does anybody happend to know any other solutions? This is not even a common problem, so I don't know what to really do anymore.

Ah I've heard this problem many times, I'm not to sure on what the cure is, but I think it had something to do with pirated software?

Go into your preferences and turn the color management off. ;)

Well, I used CS version successfully for months (almost a year) then I think I changed something... maybe my monitor preferrences back in Feb, and I can't get the colors to change. It's weird because the monitor shows all colors the same on any application except for Photoshop. I uninstalled Photoshop, and installed the newer version, and it still has the same color problems. I don't think a pirated or retail version would matter. I hadn't in the past.

Maybe something's wrong with the adobe gamma loader.

And it's definitiely not from PS but rather from your comp. specs or config.

Are you positive? I just remember hearing about that similar problem, and the cure was a retail version. Ofcourse I could be totally wrong, just trying to help!

I can almost guarantee that that's your problem.

I uninstalled my monitor (Natural Color), and that helped out a little bit. Every color seems dead on, except for the colors that have blues. I don't think I have color management on... I'll have to check when I get home, but I'm almost postive I turned that off 3 days ago.

Yeah dude this probbaly will fix it. When I installed CS, all my colors were hella lighter than they should have been, so I turned color management off... and boom. :azn:

// edit: BTW doesn't this belong in Drawing and Design?

I thought it would go under Photoshop technical support forum.... but there isn't one!! GAH!

Lol I've never even been in the Proof Setup submenu, time to investigate... unless one of you people want to tell me what the significance is.

The proof colors are there to simulate print, at least the cmyk. Dont really know what the rgb prewiew's needed for.

Another strange thing I have noticed is that when I'm saving for web as gif, lets say a simple logo in a web standard pink like #FF3399, the color gets dirty - color management off, 256 as gif setting. Ofcourse I can change the gif palette and pick the right color(s), but that's a bit too much to ask, is'nt it?

Everything can't be perfect, I'm sure you won't be affected by #FF3399 too much. :dog:
