hey everyone,

i been to a few sites where if you submit anything in a form, they say your ip address will be tracked (and they show you your ip too). but what can they really do with that ( except findout where im at?)

They can hunt you down, unpplug your PC and probe you

Well if you try to spam their website, they track the IP address which can mean that they can find out where your are located and subsequently contact your ISP where they can disconnect or suspend your Internet acount.

yep, that's about it. they're only letting you know they can track you to prevent abuse. ;)

I spose its quite a good deterrant, but I think they normally use it for IP banning. I onlt think they would hunt you down if you destroyed their site etc.

Yup, in case of illegal activity from your part, they can contanct your ISP and the ISP can look up their logs and see who you are based on the IP and time of the illegal activity. But the trick is, the ISP won't just give anyone your information for any reason. The party requesting the information based on the IP has to have solid grounds and proof of illegal activity to get your info.

Or you can proxy yourself a gajillion times, they'll go through hell before they can track you down.
