i've been doing some 3d and wanted to battle with someone using only 3d progs and photoshop. mods give specifics, anyone up to it?
also, it only has to be a picture, not an animation.
anyone?
if you take bryce begginer challenge...
what will be your rules? rendered pic dimensions or what?
although my bryce version can deal only imported meshes and so su(k as to other 3D software, it is ultimate and easiest tool for landscape creation, so i can fight you in that only.
i was thinking an actual object, like a lamp or whatever. no backgrounds or anything.
textures dont matter to me.

2dan:I think you are the one... Instead of making pple rendering desks, I suggest you to change battle forum rules in part where rules are set by mods. This is what really bounds members creativity.

Well Dan is the one who created this section, and is the moderator and maintainer of it. We also feel that a 3rd party moderator should determine rules and themes so it is fair.
No one is making you battle, so if you don't like the rules you don't have to play.

All you have to do is request a theme to me and I will set your rules based on that theme, I am usually nice about that....but only when the member is being mature about the subject!

been havin a hard time with work. i like the theme but what type of render are you looking for? more of a realistic and close to the real thing or a neat trendy glowing sci fi desk?
as for deadline, i'll work on it tonight but may not have a picture of the real thing until tomorrow or later and wanted to put them together so im not sure.

makc: Mods don't SET the rules.. you are free to challenge anybody and set the rules yourself, BUT, only a mod can make it official, and start the countdown :)
So the battle isn't on before the mod says GO :P
But you can set the rules of course.. :)

No clue what is going on with this battle. He accepted, but now he declines, if I am thinking right, if you submit an image, it is automatically the winner then. You do have to submit one though, you have to win with some kind of entry...lol.

actually, i had planned to make a much more detailed realistic desk (was even gonna add my warcraft 3 action figures!) but i dont think i'll be able to finish it in a reasonable time.

Actually, it was reported because someone was crying for mods attention, so I thought it is a good idea to get sombody to look here.

Hojo: I am guessing it was because makc took the liberty to insult Dan on how this battle section was run when Dan worked really hard to get Kirupa to put this up and to run this area. Then he warned Dans post.
I am pretty sure that is how this started.

Lost, your always the best when it comes to rationalizing 'problems' in the forum (that's a good thing). If people get mad at me for responding this way then tough, Usually I ban the user, I am actually holding back until I talk to kirupa....

Yeah, you learned from the previous incident not to ban anyone without going through Kirupa first (unless it was for an extreme reason).

Dan does not claim to be a god, and the fact that you keep referring to him as that leads me to believe that you think he is, which would be a compliment to him.
Tell me how you would feel if you started something important (if not to others, than to yourself) and then someone just comes in from nowhere, spits on it, then insults how it is run and directly insults the person running it (which would be you).
You would be pissed... no? If not, then you have serious emotion problems because it isn't good to keep things in like that.

If you submit something that even slightly resembles a desk in a 3D program then yes you will win. Your last submittion didn't meet the theme and programs, but I will let you submit a new one, has to look good if we are going to put it on the homepage, so don't just pull a quicky! i dont think its such a good idea as it seems like bragging to me, i mean battles are supposed to be for fun only and imagine the people who have won posting...everytime it says 5 battles won, or 9 battles won, not everyone battles so its kinda wierd.
maybe at top of battle forum there could be the winners and at the end of like say 3 months , person with most wins gets something? :o
i mean something small like a star or something under your picture near your name, changing color according to how many battles you've won and/or participated in.

I do like the idea of a battle ranking system. It might help later on so n00bs aren't getting crushed by stronger fighters all of the time. Even a page like the members page with a ranking board or something. Your name wouldn't be added until you do a battle so ppl who don't battle won't have a big 0 sitting by there name all of the time.

Well I see it that battling is just for fun, no prizes, no rewards, just the fun of competition. So I don't see a ranking system as making anything better :-\
If a newbie thinks that his/her skill is good enough to challenge someone in a battle, then that is what is going to happen, no matter what the skill level of the person they are challenging :evil:
