If any of you guys are bored then what could be more constructive than creating a logo for a popular, non-profit site!

Have a look at the site

www.little-planet.net (http://www.little-planet.net)

Its a world map of Fullscreen Quicktime VRs by Photographers all over the world.

I would like to see your submissions on this thread! - The winner will get his logo at the top of the site - and also a news feature about you and your skills and a link to your site.

You will also get a link in the site.

This site is only 1 month old has had hits all over the world (its growing by about 100% a week)

We need to feature the Name:

Little-planet
Fullscreen virtual tours

Cheers
and good luck!!

it is a logo right? thats what it says in the title of the thread. all of theses are banners. is it supposed to be a logo or a banner because that greatly changes what should be focused on for the project.

i spent a few minutes and came up with this:

lol, more people need educating in what a logo actually is.

A few basics of a logo - Block colours (so that rules out gradiants or blurr effects), keep it distinct and it should work in monotone too.

no gradients on a logo, are you sure. someone better tell BT cos they've been doing it for years.

Well these are just basics to point people in the right direction. Personally I feel that block colour works better.

Rab is right, when you design a logo you start with monotone (and while designing it, black). The point of a logo is identity and if you can't communicate the service, company, or product with one color the logo isn't strong enough yet. The original reason for this is printing, companies would rather be able to print their letterhead with one color than two for cost reasons. Also the logo should reduce to 3/4" and still be readable.

For my logo's symbol I chose the outer arc to represent "planet" and the cross arrows I noticed while I was browsing the site. If you view one of the 360 tours, that is the default icon in the quicktime viewer when you hold down the mouse in the center.

You can always jump to color and styles for your logo once it is created, to convey a style that you might have on a website or a publication but the original should be clean and clear.

A lot of people are out on the internet designing things (not all of them designers) and it tends to lead toward incorrect examples which sometimes are very popular but overall not very strong. The most important thing about creating an identity is that it quickly conveys the clients service, company, or product in a clear effective way distinguishable from their competitors.
}; //end minor chapter review from art 241 "beginning graphic design"

hope that helps anyone in creating a logo or some logic in brainstorming

(i don't claim to be a designer yet but i can recognize a strong design when i see one ** not the same as "I don't know art but I know what I like")

Was curious what happened to this thread -

=guinness= - have you seen the site subject of this thread? http://www.flash360.net/cms/viewpage.php?page_id=12?

I am hoping that you know about this! I also hope that the promise of mentioning you as logo designer on the site will be honoured... I couldn't find any mention of a credit for the logo at the time of writing.
