give them a turntable :P
this is a little thing i did in photoshop. i don't usually draw fantasy characters, nor make use of the cheesy effects in photoshop (i.e. lens flare, motion blur) but i thought i'd go all out with the pic. i used my tablet for this, so it was done entirely in photoshop, since i was basically just doodling until these mass loads of pictures i took with my digicam were done printing. i guess it took about an hour total. hope it's not too corny :elderly:

That's damn sweet sonmi! I love the colors; the motion blur and lens flares make it look good, keep them. I suck at drawing, that's why I stick to 3D and Flash. You should talk to edwin (vts), he is a great artist!

ha. what should i say to him? :pirate:
thanks for all the nice comments! i haven't done a work like this in a long time, mainly because i have steered off into more minimalist and abstract stuff. i just thought i'd see what i could do now. i always feel guilty for using effects and filters, because it seems more falsely fabricated and less personal. but i guess that's going too deep into things. i've been working with photoshop more these days ever since i came to the board and saw all the great work here. you all have inspired me!

Using Filters for effects doesn't make it less yours.
Being a trendwhore makes your work less yours. As long as you use everything with your own style and not copying anyone elses, it will be yours.
This one definitely is awesome and all the filters add to the emotion of the picture which makes it even better.
Edwin (vts) is just a normal guy, who actually thinks his work isn't that great (way too modest). It sounds like you and him draw the same styles of art.

that's good to hear. see, i'm really picky about that for some reason. even to the point where i don't feel right making logos or just anything with text with someone else's font on it. i feel like i have to make my own font to make it right, though i know such a thing would be unnecessarily tedious.
like i said in the first post, i don't normally draw fantasy creatures, but the anime style is one of mine that has been evolving ever since my obsession with sailor moon back in 1995, unfortunate to say :P
i've seen some of edwin's stuff, and, with the proceeding comment directed to edwin, i think your art is awesome. and you're the same grade as me! gah! i have so much to work up to :x

Ha. i am certainly no masta artist.
i'm intrigued by the battle things. how do they work? does someone just propose a subject and medium and then the artists create something for it and are voted on? i'd be interested in trying one, i guess.

Wow same with me. I hate using someone elses fonts.

i'm glad i'm not the only one, morse!
i think i'll pass on the battle. i don't really like competition too much or for people to think that i'd be able to reach a certain level of technique everytime i create a picture. in any case, i wouldn't want to propose the battle myself. if someone else were to do it, then i probably would :P
