you can view my old site at www.pixeloxygen.com
and here is a screenshot of my new design:

what I want to do is have the skilift slide in when you click a button, and display the info. I think I might also have the piece of snow/ice that's sticking out, shake a bit and pieces fall off. Maybe add light snow animation.

The idea is nice, as well as the image itself. But two colors image? Boring. :smirk:
Welcome on board, btw.

yeah lately i've been into this 2 color thing, hopefully i can change that site; make the skilift and sign post different color..

I quiet like it, but like tommy said, the colour needs dealing with. Nice idea though

Well that's different. You definetly need some colour in there, but the concept is interesting.

i don't agree.. go for it.
any additional colors you introduce will only add emphasis to what its trying to convey..
I see a bright yellow school crossing sign somewhere in the site :)

The second one is much better than the one you have online at the moment.
As for the second design color scheme I am not bothered with two color scheme as long as you can pull it off.

In contrast to many of the high contrast sites, I like the soft blue color. The only possible suggestion I have is the ice thing on the bottom. It might be good if you could blur the edges just by a few pixels. One question is: are you trying to give a futuristic modified look to the ski lift? It might be good to keep it modern day. That's not too distracting though. You could change it to a tram car and have the content be inside the doors and when they open it is visible. No really, It's essential alright the way it is :) .

what i like:
- the mountains in the bg
what i don't like:
- ice formations look out of place (especially the top-right section where the heavy dark colors come in)
- guy looks out of place
- menu text isn't properly angled and the font doesn't look realistic. i'd try an all-caps font
- angle of ski lift doesn't coincide with angle of content panel
- the idea of snow and or ice falling animations (it's difficult to take a 2d animation like that and insert it into a photorealistic site)
i think you could pull off the ski lift/content holder idea if you
1) have each ski lift thing hold a content panel
2) have the content panels look more realistic
3) angle the content panels correctly (as well as the content within them)
- this could deliver a cool 3d sort of effect
4) have the content panels sway correctly

thanks everyone for the comments. I am going to add color but only to the actual sections that will come in when you click the button. I will fix the sign post and the fonts.
bwh2 - i think i'll lighten up the ice section on the edges and blur it a bit; the ski lift angle is off because i'm just showing you just an idea of what i'm going to do. I'm not sure if I want to design the skilift in 3d so I can rotate it properly at the end so it matches the panel or if I will just adjust the panel but I don't think i'll do this since I'll be using pixel fonts and any fonts you stretch/skew will look bad so i doubt i'll be doing the panel at an angle. Making the panels sway was in my head already - thanks !
hopeully i can show an update this weekend but i have some freelance stuff to do.
