Hey lost :)
I noticed that when I click on any of the experiments on your friggin' cool site then it opens a new resized window. The size is exactly the size of the flash movie. Did you made a script to resize it manually or is there some automatic stuff going on? :)
I just hate my footer... gotta disable it

I wrote my window pop up script to have the width and height called on each link. That way for each link I can define what pages loads, the width and height of the window, and other settings.

Then each of the .swf files are embedded in an HTML that has all the margins removed.

Ok thx for the help... I think I'm gonna use that method on my site toooo... :)

I wrote the method I used in a .txt file to post on this forum for people with pop up questions.

Do you want me to attach it here for you to see what I do?

PS: My method automatically centers the pop up no matter what screen res.

November 15th, 2002, 01:38 PM
well... :-\
there should appear a button "Open New Window 1" right? :-\
for some reason.... it does not... :-\

lostinbeta
November 15th, 2002, 01:39 PM
You need to post the link code in the actual body of your html.

It is a standard HTML link, so it should show.

FIIIXXXEEEED IIIT! sorry I was a bit blind :)
there was a line missing...

November 15th, 2002, 01:41 PM
I just tested, I copied and pasted the Javascript code between the head tags of the HTML page, then I pasted the link where I wanted in my document.

Ran a test on the page, clicked the link, worked perfectly.

Late post...lol, congrats :)

lostinbeta
November 15th, 2002, 01:49 PM
Hrmm, worked fine for me :-\

Well my link was just in there as an example so you can obviously change that....lol.

The script does effect the page loading, that is all the browsers fault.

Be sure to use http:// before all URLS.

andr.in
November 15th, 2002, 01:58 PM
I know about the http:// thingy but I hate it!
I can't test it on my PC that way! I hate it I hate it I hate it!
ok my next post is hours away now...
It's movie time! http://www.kirupa.com/forums/smileys_files/popblood.gif

lostinbeta
November 15th, 2002, 02:01 PM
Have fun watching the movie.

You should always use http:// before any link!

You can't test your file if you do it that way? That is pretty retarded if you ask me :-\

andr.in
November 15th, 2002, 04:20 PM
Hey cool! IT works great! I just found out that I don't have to put http:// or anything in front of it!... I have n't tested it on the internet yet but on my pc it works great...
But one more thing... That would be awfully perfect if I could define the background color for the new window... is it een possible??? ...well of course it is.... everything is possible when it comes to computers :)

lostinbeta
November 15th, 2002, 04:22 PM
It probably is, I don't know how to do it.

Why don't you just set the background color inside the html file you are loading?

andr.in
November 15th, 2002, 04:29 PM
well yeah I could do that but if the html contains only one picture then it would be easier to make a link for the picture itself with a background color of#FFFFFF. then I don't have to make a new html for every image but... no biggie... just a though.. :)

lostinbeta
November 15th, 2002, 04:33 PM
Oh, if you are going right to the picture itself, you cannot change the bgcolor and get rid of the margins.

You can probably do it with PHP or something, and just link to 1 php page that has all that defined, and use PHP to dynamically load in the images depending on what you call.

I don't know PHP though.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:24 AM
oh.... oooohhhh.... ok....
Wouldn't it be easy if there was just one script! Then everybody could do everything!
I wanted to make a guestbook I know othing about CGI/PERL/PHP/MYSQL/etc.
I had the code in PHP but my host only accepts PERL/CGI
and now... there aint gonna be no guestbook... and no flash mailing too!

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 02:27 AM
Well PHP and mySQL is replacing CGI.

I recommend learning them.

Perl is too hard to learn from my experience.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:35 AM
yeah I followed a very basic tutorial on PERL. And when the first page was over I pressed ALT+F4 and I was like... yeah right...

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:39 AM
OHHH MAAN! I just found out that my host gives me 50mb...c'moon gotta find a new one... :-\
maybe I'll find something with php

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 02:49 AM
If you are talking free servers, 50MB is actually very good.

And good luck finding one with PHP support, I don't think they exist, but you never know.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:51 AM
for free??? 50mb? omg that would be so cool!
I costs ... I don't remember t was something abot 10$/year.

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 02:57 AM
Oh ok.

Tripod used to offer 50MB for free. They changed that a few months ago, so now it is just 20.

It sucks, but I don't use them anymore so.... :-\

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 03:00 AM
what do youe use? does it support php? ho much space'v you got?:cowboy:

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 03:01 AM
I mooch off of my friends server.

It is PHP, mySQL, CGI, the works.

He has a dedicated server, so it is like, never down and always fast.

As for space, he has unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth, etc.

I use as little space as I can though since I am just mooching until I can afford my own hosting service.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 03:09 AM
hum...:-\ this is strange...
I found a site where you get 1GB, 1GB monthly bandwidth, PHP, ASP, streaming audio/video, CGI, C+/++, PERL...
ANd So much mooree... IT*S LIKE PERFECTO!
but the thing is.... all that is for 1.25/month...
like wtf??? how can it be so cheap?
this is Soo strange... :-\

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 03:11 AM
What is the site?

I am sure there is something wrong with it, if you just look closer.

Probably something in the User Agreement. Can I see?

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 03:27 AM
right over here (http://www.findmyhosting.com/detail.asp?host=5084&plan=14398&pos=1&sr=113463)

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 03:34 AM
I dunno, they don't look to professional, and it seems like all their agreements and statements were written up by a standard person.

Their User Agreement policy just says they are not liable for anything on your site, and any professional hosting service has more than that!

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 03:41 AM
I found their homepage... this is starting to get more expensive... maybe it still is something good... :--\

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 03:46 AM
No clue.

I know RenGirl uses www.your-site.com

They are pretty good.

h88
November 16th, 2002, 04:02 AM
Does they support PHP and mySQL, i really need those for testing purposes!

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 04:11 AM

h88
November 16th, 2002, 04:14 AM
It seems that those are good too:

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 04:24 AM
WTF?
goto http://www.catalyst2.com/?cifmh=67331
Under domain search enter some kinda domain and clik search
Now press conitnue
And under build your package you can see the domain entered and next to it "2 years @ £35.00" WTF?
wtf is that 35£ there?

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 10:38 AM
I found another one! This one better than the last one!
BUT
http://www.dr2.net/order.php
you can see a text in red

You must purchase your own domain name before you can be hosted by Dr2.net, if you do not already have one, GoDaddy.com offers low prices on domain name registration.
WTF? Does that mean that I have to register a domain at godaddy.com for 8.95/year and then register the same domain at dr2.net and I have to pay for both???
8.95+15=23.95 OMG

h88
November 16th, 2002, 11:14 AM
Those are the best, but thier price is really high:

http://www.mediatemple.net/

one of thier clients:

But they are expensive.

My friend uses Blue Domino, pretty pricey, but he has a dedicated server so it is NEVER down and is always fast, and he has no problems with their service.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 01:45 PM
I think I'll use http://www.1uhost.com/index.htm
24$/year... a bit much but the only good one I've found this far...
and it supports PHP! so I can make a guestbook! :)

h88
November 16th, 2002, 01:47 PM
I think i gonna choose globalhost.com Pro plan, sub domains, mySQL Server, PHP! thats really cool for only $20 !

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:35 PM
20$??? for 20$ you can only register a domain but you don't get any mb or anything... I think...
at least that's what the chat-infoman told me...
you'll get the full stuff for 450$/year man!

h88
November 16th, 2002, 02:36 PM
Which is abit high syko!!

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 02:39 PM
You can get a domain name for 10 bucks a year from www.registerfly.com

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 02:54 PM
Which is abit high syko!!
no ****!
But you said you were gonna register there... or sth
btw: the chat thingy was so cool! :)

lostinbeta
November 16th, 2002, 04:02 PM
I meant domain names.

I was replying to your one post that says...

for 20$ you can only register a domain but you don't get any mb or anything... I think

So I was saying that you can get the domain name itself for 10 bucks a year, not 20.

andr.in
November 16th, 2002, 04:39 PM
ok... So first I have to register a domain for
##$/year
ok and then I have to order some kinda package for
##$/year
this is gonna get expensive...
ok
goto http://www.dr2.net/order.php#order
and you can see a text in red there!
Do I have to register a domain with godaddy.com before or can I register the domain with anything...? Does it have to be godaddy?
