Not bad for a first. Definitely work on the mouth area, needs a lot more depth. Detail is key. Also, try a subject that is not a complete idiot, Bam's a poopface. Good first effort though, much better than mine :thumb:

needs work.. looks more like a bitmap image to me.
i agree with pinkmethod, detail is key.. eyes, nose and mouth need more definition but for your first try its not too bad.. you can only get better from here ;)

Not bad but keep trying at it. Vector will take time to bring out the total richness of detail so it wouldn't hurt if you went around or picked up a book to assist you with some guidlines and tips. It should make you aware of whats important and to make a good vector image.

Thank you all. I will look more into vector art, and once i have illustrator, i will be much better off. That is a flash vector.

another thing is, try not to just guess where the shading should go... it seems like it's not too hard, but you'll find that lighting can really add a LOT of realism to a pic, and having bad lighting will detract more than you think, and make features look awkward and wrong...
for instance, in your pic the left side of the picture (his right cheek) looks really flat, whereas in the original pic it's got a rounded feel and those funny lines that go from near the mouth to the nose... it's a little bit the same with his neck, around the adam's apple. Some little adjustments there would really help bring some depth to the pic and make it look more like a person :)
