View Full Version : Site of the Week (March 24th - March 31st)

March 24th, 2005, 10:41 PM
If you wish to be considered for this week, please read the summary of rules:

1) Reply by the end of March 31st to be considered for this week's award.

2) Include the URL and your email address.

Only the webmaster/creator of the site can submit.

Only one submission per person per week.

Submissions are capped at 10 entries each week, so don't wait or hesitate until the last minute. Entries beyond the 10 entry limit will not be eligible for the SOTW for that particular week.

Include a brief synopsis of your site inluding its purpose, or maybe some features you wouldn't want anyone to miss.

3) Your site does not have to be full Flash to be eligible. Whilst you still must employ Flash to some extent, we are also looking for the overall design and usability of your site, not just your Flash skills.

4) While it is understood that sites are perpetually under construction, please submit only complete sites. Do not submit a site that is less than 80% finished.

5) Submissions must be actual websites with sections and content. Examples of ineligible include (but not limited to) flash games, movies, etc.

6) There will be a private poll among the moderators and a winner will be announced.

7) No critiques or feedback is allowed in the submission thread. If you wish a concentrated critique of your site, you may start a thread in Site Check. However, mod critiques will be posted when a winner has been selected.

For more information or questions, please refer to the Official SOTW Rules. Once you have read and understand the rules above, you may submit your site to this thread. Sites not adhering to the rules above will be disqualified and deleted. Submitting your site is an agreement and acceptance of the rules.

Website of film project "The Yellow House". A flash-based 2D animated short that will take you to an introspective journey into the mind of Vincent van Gogh in his last days. Great graphics and original music score. Entering full production. Articles, forum and screenshots available at the site.

Hi Everyone.

I'm submitting the web site of my latest short film, Enn Zom Ek So Kivet (One man and his bucket)

As most film web site goes theres only so much content you can include and those are found on the site.

I belive that one of the stand out features of my site is it actually uses the character of the man, not just as a design element but also as a scrolling device (when you click production or downloads). I might be wrong but I haven't seen that done before.

The gallery section is pretty cool. Click on any thumbnail u want but if you change your mind while its loading, click on another picture to cancel it and load the new one. That may sound simple but I went to this really big music site once and you couldn't do that. Once u clicked on a pic, you had to wait for that to load as the actionscript disabled all the other btns. All the pictures have audio and subtitles as the language spoken isn't English.

All in all, its a pretty compact site without going OTT and I think it works really well. Hope you guys like it 2!

My sister is a painter and this site is made for her. There are some cool effects like blurring background while focusing content from external menu, detecting visits to each painting and displaying it on control panel…
I would like to thank Kirupa for some excellent tutorials for things I used on this site: guestbook and news editor. I also implemented photo gallery that was described in “Best of Kirupa”. Thank you Scotty for your time and energy you put into shaping this AS code ;)
I hope you will enjoy the visit to this site, I enjoyed working on it!

Hello to you!
just launched our little partysite:

description:
main idea was to creat a flashsite with simple-to-use administration for all my friends.
the flashfrontend gets all data from the serve over a php interface to update the gallery you need just 1 minute of time.
the eventcalender uses dynamic-textfiledatas, and everybody can upload infos/flyers to the right day.
the site requires a very! fast internet-connection, because we are lucky to have it and other people instead my "gang" wouldnt be interrested in this site.

Apparently, my server is slow to show the new .swf files for the "Services" & "Experiments" links, so if they look a little funky when you click on hit refresh a few times.

Good job to all the participants. One of the valuable aspects of SOTW is to get valuable feedback about your site and get an idea of how well it stands beside some of the best on the web.

Your first post here is not very positive :(

his site is nice and well structured - good graphics too.

thanks salvador but i accept xkrs post cause my site is not made for everybody. Someone likes it and someone doesn't. How would it be that all likes it? There would be then no more progress from me. So i know i have to try harder to satisfy more people with my work and show progress from this version.

xkr - i have also question on your post. It would be nice if you can write more what is not cool and what is borring. It will help me a lot in my next projects. Thanks.
