Hi Everyone-

I am working on a new concept/design for my site and have come up with this:
http://www.vizualstorm.com/new.design.index.html

Here is the existing site: http://www.vizualstorm.com

Please let me know what you think!

Quite Ok. Text on the stickers is too small. I don't like the rollOvers (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/advroll.htm). Also, align the site properly.

You do not like any of the rollOvers? What do you mean "align the site"?

Thanks for the comments!

I don't like any of your rollOvers. The site must be in the middle, becuse most of the users have high resolution. So it turns out that your site is placed at the bottom. If you didn't get what I mean, change your resolution and see.

here are the issues i'd address:
- using the standard mac background is pretty uncreative
- using post-its is also pretty uncreative and overdone (especially if they don't look realistic)
- the VS logo is out of place. i can't tell whether it's a metallic sticker on the screen, part of the screen background, or something totally different. it's placement and appearance don't make me think logo.
- your gradients are really obvious and don't look metallic
- i don't understand the border around the metal background
- if everything's supposed to be sort of realistic (the screen hanging, metal background, the post-its), then why is the menu flat?
- i don't care for the rollovers either. the menu rollovers are slow and move awkwardly at the end.
- the tweens you use to bring everything onto screen are slow and not really choreographed. in addition, they just don't fit. for instance, why would a post-it grow like that? if anything, wouldn't it be placed flat on a monitor?
- fonts: your menu font really isn't very easy to read even though it's bold white on black. the post-it font doesn't look like actual handwriting
- ultimately the computer screen might just be too small to hold real content. that is yet to be determined.

using a computer screen to hold content is an interesting idea (that i think many of us have had and attempted at one point), but it's hard to pull off - primarily because people (especially kirupians) look at computer screens all day long. so people have certain expectations of a computer screen and how it should look/behave; if you don't meet those high expectations, your site comes out looking cheesy.

What was wrong with the old design?? I like it WAY better. Like grandpa used to say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Hi Guys-

Per some good feedback, I have made some changes to my site. It is still a work in progress, so any critiques would be appreciated: http://www.vizualstorm.com/new.design2.index.html

Thanks in advance for any comments!
