VAIO!

My Sony VAIO is my workhorse computer... I run everything on it, it is my main design and coding platform. It was pretty expensive cuz I pretty much maxed everything out inside it. It is also hooked up to a second screen (flat panel) and external HD (160 gigs), WACOM tablet, the works... everything runs seemlessly on it, and I've never had a problem with it.

Peace

I bought a Dell Inspiron 9100 widescreen last July and it's basically the only computer I use. There's nothing I haven't been able to do with it. From my design programs to games, I haven't had any issues with it!

I looked at it.It seems too big. What screen resolution you are using?

The default is 1920 x 1200 but I have it set to 1280 x 800 and it looks good! At first the widescreen seemed a little weird because I had never used one but now I love it and am annoyed by the regular 4:3 ratio.

i have the dell inspiron 8600... its like the old model of the 9100. It has not given me problems and it runs everything smothly! I will definitly suggest u a dell since u can get everything u get from a Vaio from maybe a $1,000 less... so I it all comes down to design and budget... Personally i think that the Vaio's have the best design but they are to expensive!!! but hey that's just me...

Since you want to play WoW, have you looked into the Dell Inspiron XPS2 systems? They have a 6800 Go Ultra graphics card that is really great for games: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2356 The 9300 can be customized with 6800 Go (non Ultra). That card was about 30% slower than the ultra, but it used up less power. It's a tradeoff :)

that's a great choice but the only drawback besides the money is its size... those laptops are really bulky and weight a lot...

Yeah - that's true. From the looks of it though, the XPS2 looks less bulky than the XPS1. That's not saying much though haha.

I have an HP and it's never made so much as a whisper, and runs super cool. So that's clearly not true for all HP's :)

I have a zv5000, I dunno if it's cause mine is AMD or because it's sort of a mid-level laptop, but still it's quite quiet. My mom also has an HP (we're an HP house, my mom works for them :P) and hers is really quiet too, only problem with hers is it gets real hot.

Weird stuff.

POWERBOOK

Although, if you must get a PC, get a VAIO. They work the best and have the most clear quality put into them out of everything I've ever owned or used, but have a short lifespan. (Around 3 years)

My dad has a Dell Inspiron 300 and it looks pretty good.. but he just uses it for email and writing documents for work, so I don't know how it would stand up to games.

After reading your reply's and a research i am stuck between these two laptops.

Sony Vaio VGN - A600 - 17" Wide Display

17" WUXGA TFT (1920 * 1200)
64 MB VGA Dedicated
Wireless Lan (802.11 a\b\g) with Bluetooth technology
Microsoft XP Pro
1 GB DDR Ram (2*512)
Intel Pentium M Processor 760 (2.0 GHz,2MB L2 Cache,533 MHz FSB)
60 GB

$2559

Its expensive but its screen quality and resolution is great but it has a 64 MB VGA which is not enough for games.

Dell Inspiron 9300

17" Ultra Sharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
Intel Pentium M Processor 760 (2.0 GHz,2MB L2 Cache,533 MHz FSB)
Microsoft XP Pro
1 GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHZ
60 GB 7200 RPM HDD
256MN Nvidia GeForce Go 6800
Intel Pro Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless(802.11 a/b/g,54 MBps)

$2371

Its really good
Which one you suggest?

My choice would either be a Dell or an Asus.
