Hey guys and gals.

Two questions...
Does anyone know of any good opensource video editing stuff? I tried jakasha or something like that and it was worthless. Also couldn't open .MOVs, though that might be because that's a proprietary format? I dunno.

And if no one knows the answer to that

does anyone know of any decent free video compression software, specifically for .MOVs?

Thanks y'alls.

WHOA! That Jashaka thing looks pretty decent! Seems quite capable, and it's got a discreet™-esque interface :D

Dunno about editing MOV's, though. Quicktime is a proprietary technology.

Meh I just bought quicktime pro.. isn't really worth the 30 so far.. really basic editing capabilities, but oh well, gets the job done i guess.

Yeah i'd never pay for it, the editing is pretty basic as you said.

It's really handy for chopping bits and pieces of video files into compilations and stuff.

Premiere Pro costs US$700 :sure:

Never used QT Pro for editing, though...
