LoL... well the header I knew would get ppls attention...

Anyway, I'm a sorta firm believer that doing vector artwork in Flash is pointless, cause you can't get the nice detail and quality from it that you can in Illustrator or Freehand. And that's mainly do to the fact that I've never seen a good vector illustration in Flash, it's like the poormans vector tool. Anywho today, at 7:30am I bite my tounge and just thought I'd share this link w/ you guys:

(LoL... erm... I think I posted this in the wrong section... it's early... bleh!)

Hmm... I was under the impression it was done in Flash, which is the only reason I posted this... LoL. Most of them say it was done if Flash, and I just assumed that they all were. But if it's done in Illustrator it's less impressive to me, since I've seen lots of great illustrators in Illustrator, but very few to none in Flash.

Flashs drawing capabilities are no where near Illustrators control, but its getting better with each new version.

Nice links. Very pretty work.

Flash have some very nice tools to control for exemple the shape of the line that Illustrator don't have...of course i think Illustrator is surely better but it's not the first time I see people that prefer Flash to Illustrator...

what do you mean doesn't have control over a line? Illustrator gives you complete control over all vector objects...

I have seen awesome stuff in flash...An illustrator I work with here, did an ad campaign in flash and it was primo. But the time you have to invest to get the results you can with illustrator prevent me from using it for its vector capabilities. But it is very capable. Just way to many work arounds for what can be done with the pathfinder tool in ILL.

I wonder about the accuracy of "made with Flash".... I only say that because he is obviously a very good artist, and very creative, and he can obviously afford industry standard programs (ie Flash)... why not use the best tools to do the job (ie Ill, Freehand)? I mean thats compairable to a talented sculptor using a round metal ball instead of a chisel to create his art. I can understand the less talented artist trying to use Flash (cuz its a no-brainer and doesnt have confusing tools they wouldnt use or know how to use), but for someone who can utilize the tools of a more powerful program, why?

I dunno, I guess I dont really think anyone's not telling the truth.... I just scratch my head and ask... WTF? :P

Regardless, GREAT WORK!

Peace

draw using flash is hard and u have to be very creative because the limitation of its effects and filters.
i use flash because i have no wacom/intuos and its easier control a line or shape with flash than other s/ware.

I am not sure if any of you guys have seen the study of Katie Holmes by Jerome Birembaut. Which can be found here http://dreammania.net/test/realisme/static.php and also at CG TALK's Forum http://cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=172485&highlight=vector .

And yes done in FLASH. Just thought that I would share that with everyone.

Yea in his work descriptions he says they were done in flash.

And yea brain I saw that a while ago, but obviously forgot.. that's even more impressive from flash.

When it gets this close to reality, the question comes up, why not just take a photograph?

top notch work in flash.. i never liked drawing in flash, easy for me to work in illustrator but still much respect for these dudes, great work. :thumb:

Lets not start again on the why dont they just take a photo subject again (we went through it before with some illustrator work) just appreciate the artistic value of it.

a photograph is not vector therefore cannot be resized and such.

I know that flash has the abilities to put out picture perfect stuff. But it is a tremendous partaking when it can be done in half the time in AI. But some folks make due with what they havem that is what makes this work all the more impressive. My hat goes off to anyone getting these results in flash....
