Plugins to convert photos to vector images?

Hi there,

I am running in an election campaign at university, and would like to have my poster featuring a picture of me in vector form (because vector art is so cool).

I have tried to do it myself, but the results aren't very impressive. I believe there are some plugins available for different programs that allow you to vectorise your photos?

If not, what is the simplest way to convert a photo into a cool vector-type image? I have most design programs available at uni.

you can use flash and do a "trace bitmap", if you play around with the settings you can get some cool results. There is always illustrator where you can trace your image and do some nice cartoonish colouring. not sure what else there is though
