My friend wants to upgrade his PC from 98 to XP.. He has a disk, but doesnt know the number to phone to get/buy a code.. Can anyone help?

If he's just upgrading, the easiest thing to do is go to the store and buy a windows xp upgrade kit...I think they're a little cheaper than a full version.

Most any major store should have them...walmart, officemax, best buy, staples, etc.

I don't know that microsoft will just sell an activation key...

He bought it, but he bought it for a different computer (Downstairs) and he cant use the same code.. Can he?

Yes, you can, but legally you're not meant to.. ring up during activation and say you formatted your computer by mistake ;)
