How do you turn an swf into an exe file?

Go into your publish settings and check the box next to exe, then publish. The exe will need the swf to run.

I was under the impression that they were standalone, are they not? (The exe's)

Wrong forum, domain_host

Sorry. I needed the swf to be seen as an exe. I did the publishing thing, but I don't know. It's still an swf.

P.S. My footer finally works!

Can't you publish it then open up the SWF file and I think there's some sort of command to turn it into standalone. Sorry--can't be bothered to find an SWF on my comp as "Show Desktop" isn't working!

if i understand you correctly, you have the swf but not the fla. if that's the case, none of the suggestions provided should work.
the best i can think of now would be to create a new fla containing a blank movie clip and using the loadmovie method to load your swf into your new movie, which you would then use the publish feature (follow lunatic's suggestion) to create your exe. note that the swf will be needed wherever it was specified for the loadmovie function.

I have the fla and the swf, but I'm not quite catching on. I tried lunatics way, but again it came out as an swf, but this time, ten times the size of the last one.

Maybe try reinstalling flash? (Drastic sounding... yes, but if nothing else works)

Open the SWF file, then click on the "File" menu and click on "Create Projector...".

I think you've done it correctly when you arrive with a much larger file sized-version of the file. Right-click the icon and click properties--it's bigger because it's now an EXE.

lunatic gave you the answer, thats how you should do it since you have the fla ;)

Before you do that, delete the swf version you have.

-Open the fla with Flash.
-Goto: File -> Publish Settings
-On the Publish Settings menu, select/tick 'Windows Projector (.exe)
-Finally, click Publish

You should now have a .exe version now that would even run on machines without the flash player installed. The .exe version is generally alot bigger in size than the swf version, since it is made for local use Not the internet.

It's also bigger because it incorporates the flash player into the file, which is why you don't have to have the flash player installed to run it.

Oh I guess I said the same thing didn't I? :trout:

Don't know why it's in Random - nobody who has seen this thread so far has had the power to move it.
