If you're floating down a river in a cement canoe and the wheels fall off, how many pancakes does it take to shingle a dog house?

Well, I went out in my canoe and tried it, unfortunately, I was out of pancakes and had to use waffles. I think that changes the answer all together. Sorry, I tried to help.

Ray: Wrong! The answer is -47. You obviously did not read my book, "Jubba's guide to the Galaxy" :P

Phil: Thats not quite the exact quote. But I'll let it slide due to the nature of this site and refraining from any profane content. :P

Dave: Thats a mighty large pancake. I'll have to come over some morning for breakfast. :P

Cheers,

no no i read the Book and i beleive the answer is 42!!..

i found this quote that you'll like:

"You're really not going to like it," observed Deep Thought.
"Tell us!"
"All right," said Deep Thought. "The Answer to the Great Question..."
"Yes...!"
"Of Life, the Universe, and Everything..." said Deep Thought.
"Yes...!"
"Is..." said Deep Thought, and paused.
"Yes...!"
"Is..."
"Yes...!!!...?"
"Forty-two," said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm.
-The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams

'The object hung in the air in the exact way that bricks don't.'

It could hardly be coincidence that no language in history has ever produced the phrase, 'as pretty as an airport'.

Douglas Adams' writing is genius! Too bad he is already gone...

I was quoting Douglas Adams, the author of, "the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," series, which is kinda like 'science fiction meets woody allen', for lack of a better description. It is very humourous, and i find that only sophisticated beings of a highly evolved nature are capable of comprehending the greatness of Douglas Adams' wit. da rest of yah r dum

sure. Any of this guys books are recomended literature. I know our local Borders (bookstore) had a book that was the complete collection of his works, including a long lost book about Zaphod Beelblebrox, called, 'Young Zaphod Plays it Safe'.

Here are a few of his more famous quotes:

I love douglas Adams. And yes its too bad hes already gone, and he wasent even that old yet.

However, we will always have his witty humor and inteligence bound in these books =)

one of my Favorite parts on the series:

He turned and stared, with hope suddenly clambering through his heart. Rescue. Escape. The castaway's impossible dream - a ship.
[...]
A ramp extended itself.
Light stramed out.
A tall figure appeared silhouetted in the hatchway. It walked down the ramp and stood in front of Arthur.
''You're a jerk, Dent,'' it said simply.
[...]
Arthur's first sensation of hope and trepidation had instantly been overwelmed by astonishment, and all sorts of thoughts were battling for the use of his vocal cords at this moment.
''Whh...?'' he said.
[...]
The alien creature frowned briefly and consulted what appeared to be some species of clipboard that it was holding in its thin and spindly alien hand.
''Arthur Dent?'' it said.
Arthur nodded helplessly.
''Arthur Philip Dent?'' pursued the alien in a kind of efficient yap.
''Er...er...yes...er...er,'' confirmed Arthur.
''You're a jerk,'' repeated the alien, ''a complete kneebiter.''
''Er....''
The creature nodded to itself, made a peculiar alien check on its clipboard and turned briskly back toward its ship.

I got the complete series on DVD, and i was kinda dissapointed.

Bad Eighties Cinamatography, with Seventies special effects. But damn if it still wasn't funny. Really looking forward to Hollywoods version...
