I am creating a writing portfolio which will contain all of my past, recent, and in-process work. This work will be mainly lengthy essays, short essays, and a journal.

I have noticed that some portfolio sites use the artist's name as the domain name.

So, which should i use as my domain name: WrittenPlayground.com, VictorLopez.com, or neither?

Gratzi :)

VictorLopez.com is somewhat catchy... though WrittenPlayground.com dosen't seem to flow quite right....

if you decide to expand the site in the future and even turn the site into a haven for writers (such as myself) then writtenplayground.com would be better

you could feature your work but also others as well as pointing towards tips, reviews, courses, etc.

or if you know you won't expand, VictorLopez.com doesn't suggest creativity like writtenplayground does.

All very good points, everyone, thanks :).

But, as senocular said, victorlopez.com and .net are indeed taken. So, i think i may just have to use writtenplayground.com

That's an interesting idea you have for expansion, rabbell. But wouldn't doing such a thing require a lot of advertising and the like? I'm not so good at that :(

Gratzi :)

It is a portfolio site though so association with a real name is a good thing. Domains aren't that expensive so should expansion occur, another domain name could be gotten ;)

True, domains aren't that expensive, but if you go to http://www.victorlopez.com and http://www.victorlopez.net , you'll see that both are taken; one by an artist (go figure :) ) and the other by a governer.

Is there any way that i don't know of that i can somehow get victorlopez.com? Besides offering to buy the domain name from him/her?

Gratzi :)

Yeah, if you expand the site to be a community it would be a little akward for the community to be named after your. I mean only a pretty insecure person creates a huge community with their name all over it and has their name in peoples faces all day long.

Thanks for everyone's advice and suggestions!

I will be purchasing writtenplayground.com as soon as i finish up the site. With that said, none of you better go and buy it and try to re-sell it to me for triple the price :pirate: :beam:

And i'll most likely post the 'finished' site in the Showcase forum as soon as it's near completion.
