This is my first attempt at a complete flash website. I am still learning the ins and outs of flash and starting to get into actionscripting. There are definitely some influences from the kirupa tutorials on the site and I am looking to redo the entire site in the upcoming weeks.

Just looking for some general feedback on this site, moreso the technical aspects (transitions, loading, etc etc). I want to really give the wow factor on my next site, because I know this one is pretty boring and straight forward.

Thank you,

Jason Sadler

hey, just wanted to say that it very nice for you first try at a full flash site. Up the fps cus some of your transitions are really choppy. also your personal info section will load behind the other content if you in another section before you click on it. I like some of the designs you have in your portfolio, looks like you got some skill. good luck.

Ah yes, the personal section moving all the time. I loaded in external swf files in a layer on top and never thought about people still trying to click the personal section; just one of those overlooked details I guess.

Do you think I should just use actionscripting for the transitions and not pure motion tweens? Or can you get really crisp tweens with the correct fps?

put the fps to like 30 or 40 and it should be a lot smoother, if you want to AS it that cool too. You must have the fps at like 12 right now and thats causing the choppy look to it.

Anyone else have any opinions? Good or bad, I am just looking for criticism.

i think its great for your first site... theres not a lot you chould change, just what slow roasted said about the fps and the personal section.

we are all on a learning curve so leave this now and carry on your work... you should be pleased with what you have done, it kicks my first site! :P im 9 months into my flash time and its so iterative so keep it up!

next time try a more ambitious menu and get rid of the black borders

ure tranisitions are quite simple, which isnt a bad thing but you clearly have the ability to try some more ambitious transitions between sections... have a look at the tutorial about transitions between external movies (search in the tutorial section) you will be able to deconstruct the as... and i think it would instantly make your site more professional
