Have you tried just disabling/enabling your connection? Possibly your IP address isn't matching that of Window's. If that still doesn't work try uninstalling it and installing it.

type
ipocnfig /r
in the run box.

maybe ie isn't recognizing the connection.. sometimes adaware can change the .dll file.. that happened to me once...

You might try an alternative browser to see that it isn't just the internet explorer program - you could try "firefox" for example.

disable and re-enable the connection by right clicking it - you'll see the option

then go to start then run then type CMD in the box and click ok
when the black box comes up type "nbtstat -R" using a capital R...
you should see something like "successful purge and preload of the nbt remote cache table" - etc.

if that doesn't work download this:
http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe

run the program and post up what it lists in the left hand side under keep...

i can tell you what to remove from there -

Leo's Tip: Fix Your Post-Spyware Connectivity
written by Leo Laporte on Thursday, August 26, 2004

After removing spyware, you may need to repair your Internet connection with Winsock Fix.

It’s not unusual after removing a virus or spyware to find you can no longer go online. That’s because these programs often modify key system files, and their removal either damages or deletes those files. The same thing can happen when removing a firewall program.

Microsoft does tell us how to fix things in the tech note HERE. But unless you just love hacking the registry, I’d suggest trying this free program from Spychecker first:

Winsock Fix,
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html

The developer’s page in Canada is no longer operational, but thanks to Spychecker, you can still get the program. Free. You might want to check the rest of the Spychecker site for useful tools and tips in fighting spyware.

Yay.. Leo rocks....... and so do the Screensavers... they are a good place to post questions..... and get answers.. thats kinda what happened with mine... but i didn't do that fix... i removed some spyware from IE.. and it erased a dll that was the backbone of IE.... luckily ADAWARE archives the files you delete and i restored the dll and replaced it with a clean one... but if i knew about that fix... i'd use it.

my post was restored... ty pr.
