I like it. I don't like the crossing lines in the bg though, reminds me of a present. But, I think it's more a matter of opinion than that it doesn't work, cause it is still really nice.

Nice start for a first. Further to improve it, the face needs more fine detail as well as the hands.

i aint a fan of the background or its colours, and as above you might wanna add a little detail around here face get here looking all pretty!! other then that great first go!!! and i wanna see more!!

Hm, I want to add that on top of a more detailed face, the hair seems to not 'mesh' well with it. It looks (to me) as though they are seperate parts (which they may very well be ;)), but you need to make it seemless. I think making the hair seem less 'organized' around the head might help. It looks like the face is layered on top.
