Hi guys, i wanted to e-mail you about some art/effects suggestions on photoshop but i think this could be a better way because it could help other people, i like to draw but my drawings are always linear and i never use shadows, so i do the same on the computer, i specially like coreldraw, but when i want to color some of those images i have some problems with it, for example, the girl of my avatar was made on corel draw, and i made the whole body too, is a good drawing but i dont want to show it all until its finished for my website/flash intro, My main problem is that i dont have the patience to make layers and then coloring, ok i make the layers but when im coloring i never get the effect that i want, like the skin/eye color, flame effect, all of those things seem very difficult for me. I wonder if you guys could help me (because i saw your work and its amazing) or give me some suggestions about getting started on giving effects to the fils of an image. And if someone else besides Jas and Nirvana could help me i would be very thankful.
Nirvana, this was my last sign, but i had to remove it because it lags =P http://donchurro.ca/attackments/becausewecan/kirupa/signature03-useless03.swf
Thanks To All of the kirupa community =)

Umm... you'll sorta have to be more specific on what you're tryin to achieve. 3DN well he only uses 3D programs... so if you don't know how to use those you've got a ways to go. Sounds to me like you want us to tell you how to design. The patience thing is a huge issue too, if you don't have patience you're in the wrong hobby... and need to find a new one. Art and design isn't an easy solution, and there isn't a solve all solution to it. You should do some of the tutorials around here, takes some classes, buy some books... something. Art and design isn't made on a computer it's made in your head.

The problem is not the knowledge, sorry if i wasnt very specific. My point is "could you guys share tips about your experience?" "what are the personal difficulties that you have experienced and how have you solved them?"
i hope this gives a better point of view to what im trying to know

hey ~ЯאַR~}{('~, i am sorry for replying this late to your thread, thanks for your comments, glad you like my work...but i wish i could upload more work on my website..sadly its all contracted work for many designing companies in uk and usa, i think some of the work is much better then my website..but o well, glad u like what all i have up there :)
i will give u some tips and an example too
start off with tips
> Plan what your going to draw/animate.
> Draw it out on paper, if u cant use colors on the paper..just imagine and write the name of the colors to be used on different areas.
> I dont know how your hand/eye/mouse co-ordination / control is but i used to play a lot of virtua cop 2 :P i dont know if it helped..but u need good control over mouse or simply buy an illustrator pad :)
> Nothing can be achieved without good amount of patience so dont give up ;)
> Dont get disheartened after lookin at other ppls work, they also got there with time and patience...always try and analyse their work, respect but dont lick their feets..coz theres a community of people who are just good at licking ppls feet..they develop a notion that they dont belong to big league..i hope u got what i meant ;)
> Browse around a lot and join a community you think is best for you...like i am into flash and there is'nt any better community then KF,so if ur into art u can look for a different community with art as the main theme.
i dont really remember many difficulties i faced but i do remember never giving up at any cost :)
about the example..
lets take my footer dude (my logo) as an example
How i thought of it?
sitting on my desk..thinking about my logo..i kept playing with my fingers, using fingers as legs (like walking) i kept on checking out some papers..then to my fone and there i had a couple of cd's in front of me..one underneith my left speaker and another near the right one...strolling down with my fingers i reached towards the cd on left speaker..it was from one of my clients in uk...and then to the right one..was from a client in canada, so as i picked up both the cd's something jst struck to me..to myself" hey thats what i do, i dont take home projects..i get projects from allover the world..mainly uk and usa, somehow it occured to me that a walking man is what i need as a logo.
so you dont need to sit in front of a computer (infact u need to go outside) whn your in a creative frame of mind, sitting in front of a pc will fatigue u up in matter of hours, if u browse around to other ppls website and make something lookin at their work (not saying cheated off) still it wont be an orignal idea (u dont really have to create many orignal ideas for normal clients anyway :P)
How i made it?
i pictured the movement of fingers carefully and drew them roughly...simple as that :)
Let me know if i answered you correctly or not, hope it helped =)

hey! I'm sry too that I didn't reply to this earlier, I don’t go to D&D much. Thanks for the compliment too :). I'm kind of confused about what your asking, but I can tell you how I learned and give a couple pointers I guess.
I learned flash/3d/The other graphic things I know (I don't ONLY use 3d stuff simplistic.... just mostly :)) by finding a reeeeealy good piece of work and then trying to make something just as good. When I ran into troubles I would consult the manual, or a book of some sort to find the answer. I would keep doing this until I could do something just as good as the thing I saw in the first place. Then I move on to an even better piece and go through the same process. The first time I tried to do something just as good as I saw, I was waaaay off, but I kept getting better, and kept learning more.
These things take a lot of time, but you will learn them after a while.
As for tips... um, for taking photographs and make 3d scenes I visualize my self as the camera. So you get an idea of what angle would look good.
for doing websites I look at the top sites of the industry for inspiration, then just sit down and kind of daydream about what would look cool. Then the next step would be to lay your ideas out in Photoshop. Finally I implement my Photoshop concept into flash.
I think the bottom line is that these things take time. Just keep plugging away, and reading all the books you can.
When I learned I didn’t have this wonderful forum. I love this place. Be sure to post your work up for critique and really thing about what these guys say. They know what they are talking about.
btw, I liked your footer man!
Hope I answered your question.
Cheers!
