Has anyone ever listened to The Arcade Fire? They got pitchforkmedia's number 1 album of the year award, but I've never actually listened to them. Who do they sound like?

Yeah, i'm waiting for this album ! I went 1 month ago to my music shop and they said everybody was waiting this, but it's an import so they don't when it will be out here in belgium. The music is in the way of "Godspeed You Black Emperor"

Just curious how you came to that comparrison...

KG buy this record ! Have you checked out Pitchforks new layout since

You're right sky_vault, nothing to do with godspeed, i read that the violonist of godspeed played in arcade fire... my bad, i understood it was similar

Btw, if you like that kind of music (godspeed), do you know explosion in the sky ?

Sky: Yeah, the redesign is better than what the site used to look like, but I think they could have made it WAY less cluttered. And it's interesting how they went wide.... more major sites are going wide now, like www.styelgala.com


And I just bought this record yesterday. Best Buy had it... neat. And the album is frickin awesome. It's amazing. It's like 80's pop vocals with trance guitars like Interpol, thumping drums like a heavy rock band, and violens. Now that's a combination!!!!

Hey Kris : I agree with you on the Pitchfork relaunch but you know that is the downfall when you have to make money through ads and I think thats what really makes the site feel so cramped.
Good call on picking up the record !!! The Arcade Fire is the first band since Interpol
showed up a few years ago that Ive been this excited about a new band.

Good news for me - my good friend down in Dallas let me know yesterday that he got me a ticket to the show @ TRees this coming saturday!!!!http://www.kirupa.com/forum/images/smilies/thumb.gif
Its a great place to catch shows down there! Nothing beats a roadtrip
and a good show !!! I'll let you guys know how they pull it off live!

all i can say is if you get any chance to see this band on this current tour ...
at all cost go see The Arcade Fire ! ... this show beat out the Interpol and Modest Mouse shows this year with ease !!! Also try and get your hands on the self released cd/ep from 2002/03 its just as good as Funeral !!!
