500$ isn't all that much for a ring really... but it's all I can afford...

I'll see what I can do when it's out in DK... (still 10 days)... ACK!!

Jubba
October 28th, 2002, 03:49 PM
its pretty much all I talk about too, I can't even think about anything else...

What is the first thing you all want to do when you get the game?

I am just going to get in a car and drive around the city. To get a feel for the layout of the city, a feel for the handling of different cars, and I want to find the bikes! There will be nothing cooler than cruising down the coast on a crotch-rocket at an estimated 130 MPH!

There was an article on IGN.com where they interviewed one of the developers and he said that the fastest car goes approximately 121 MPH, but a bike can go faster if you can control it! I CAN'T WAIT!! I'm not going to sleep tonight, I'm just going to sit up and twitch....this is what addiction does to you people!! DO NOT SMOKE CRACK!!!

cheers,
Jubs:cowboy:

[edit: I found the article, but now the one that says something about speed is locked, heres the URL for anyone else in case they want to read about the other aspects of the game: http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/0,11114,561545,00.html ]

Now I'm off to finish my paper...

yea i wonder if new body parts can be blown up. i always enjoyed ripping the heads off with the sniper rifle and other guns! it would be cool if you could shoot of a leg then when they try to run shoot the other leg and walk over to them and watch as they bleed to death and finally shoot them in the face laughing like an evil meglomaniac!!!!!!!

Well the way I see it, the fact that you couldn't swim was an integrated part of the entire series. Avoiding water at all costs was an important part of the original games.

As far as customizing cars is concerned: Why would you want to customize cars? Especially when money is an extremely important factor in Vice City. According to R* money carries much more weight than it did in GTA III and is an important part of the game. Also, the average car in GTA 3 did not last very long, so why put a lot of money into cars that we are only going to destroy?

I can't wait to test out the Corvette and the Porsche copies... Also crusing down the highway on a bike at 100 MPH...

Wow you guys are all really looking forward to this! I've only played GTA3 on the PC, and my comp was kinda crappy so it was hard because of the framerate. I had a helluva time playing it though. You guys are starting to convince me to go out and buy a PS2 for this game.

If you could customize a car it would put more importance into have a garage. I don't ever keep anything in the garage in GTA3. If I could spend some cash to trick out a car it would be sweet to take it for a cruse and actual try to keep ot from getting messd up. As for the swim I hate dieing 2 feet from shore because I'm touching water. There were times I could have walked to shore but the water killed me it sucked. I don't want to swim the English chanel I just want to be able to live long enough to make it to shore if I'm close

I got the bulletproof cars and i tried not to damage them...too much but since the hideout is like an automatic repair i did "sum" damage! THe mission to get Ray out is SO easy with a bulletproof car...the cheetah..just go on the bridge and the CIA cant do ****! But i dunno, maybe customizable cars can be fun for a while............then i would have to trash it! :P

Brad: Get one! Now! Why are you still reading this! GO NOW!!!

Sintax: True, but still it would be wasted money (just like customizing our cars in real life, but I still am customizing the crap out of my porsche...expensive or not...that car is still my baby) and the new game appearently has a focus on money...

With the old games any water could kill you, so i guess they just left that feature in. They should have made a 'doggy'-paddle option, where if you were close to shore, you would be able to doggy paddle, or at least did a height test to see if your guy was only in water that was to his ankles...maybe you could just walk out....Maybe they put that in...I'll have to try...

Well, I kind of need to take a break, because tomorrow night I'm taking my 'new' girlfriend out to dinner and to see 'The Ring.' My best friend and his g/f are coming too. And my g/f is really excited, so I think that if I cancelled on her, she might be a wee bit pissed off at me...so I think I have to take a break, but I'm getting the game at noon, and we aren't leaving to go out until 6, so that gives me a good 5 hours and 45 minutes...

Well, from what I see, I think that this is going to be a drooler for me. I'll have to wait for Window's based version to come out..but I've still got this one to beat after all.

Question) anyone have any hints for beating the "Poperazi purge" mission? I can't seem to do enough damage to his boat in the given alotment of time.

I like the new features as I'm reading them. Jumping out of cars is something that I feel is missing from GTAIII, and certainly there are buildings I'd like to stalk through. The hitmen shootout which takes place at the beginning of chapter II could have been a lot more interesting if I had the option of going up an elevator in the skyrise.

none the less, I understand progress, I'll just have to live vicariously through you guys for now. :)

There is a big debate over the swimming issue. R* clams there is no way to swim but some early release users say there is a cheat code to swim. A doggy paddle feature would be nice

There is also a rumor that if you have a GTA3 save on the same memory card it will cheack the % compleate and might unlock special things at a certan %.

Get in the police preditor. It has two forward mounted guns. Try to stay close to behind him and unload. Or if u have access to a grenade launch and you have good aim you can try to get beside him dis engauge the boat and try t oblow him out of the water. He folows the exact same driving pattern every time so once u know which way he is going to go it gets alot easier. Hope that helped David.

One sec. One sec.

I've been hooken on SOFII dbl helix. Are you saying GTA is better? I played GTA 1 and 2, but didnt think GTA 3 was going to stand up to the likes of SOFII or UT2003, etc..

Should I run out and by GTA3?

eilsoe

Howz UT2003?

I've been thinking about bying it...

Iammontoya
October 29th, 2002, 02:40 PM
It's okay. To tell you the truth, I enjoyed UT much more. Cant quite put my finger on it, but the first was better. Don't get me wrong, it is fun to play, but for some reason it does not pack the adrenaline and intensity of the first. (Just my opinion)

As far as multiplayer goes, I've had a blast with MOHAA and with SOFII

And today I am skipping class to play, but I am also sick (feelin like sh*t) so thats my excuse... The chainsaw is fun as hell, and the bikes are awesome too, I can't wait to fly the planes and the helicopters...oooooooo I'm off to play...I'll talk to you boys next week! :P :P :P

thoriphes
October 30th, 2002, 09:47 AM
lol, 14 hours is a lot. i only played it for about 4 hours, like jubba, yesterday. and like jubba, i'm skipping all my classes today. no, not to play GTAVC, but to study for a test i have tomorrow.......................

ok so maybe i'll slip in a couple hours of GTAVC. it's great with all it's new features. i love how you can finally shoot the people inside their cars and take out their tires. i found the missions in this one a bit more difficult. it's probably because i played GTA3 on my PC and i'm still adjusting to the new PS2 feel of the game.

my one complaint, however, is that there's too much light. and for some reason, does it seem like it's always daytime to you guys? i've only had one time where it was actually nighttime. or it could be that i'm not paying attention too well. anyway, you know how they said there's no more of that "broken bridge" thing where you couldn't get to the second island until a certain point in the game? they're liars. THEY CLOSED A BRIDGE!!! i was quite upset cause i wanted to drive around the entire place to get a good idea of the geography of the place. oh well...back to "studying".

Jubba
October 30th, 2002, 06:27 PM
The bridges get opened pretty quick tho. So don't fret.

About the light, Well if you think about it, the game is based on Miami, so its brighter because GTA 3 was based on NYC. Also, there is a lot of neon lights so even when its night out, it is still pretty light....the helicopters are fun to fly at night...

Iammontoya

lol sintax. call it a day and play away!

have you beaten it already? i mean after playing for 14+ some hours?

i've noticed that the hidden packages aren't so easy to find this time around. i've only found 1 and i don't even remember where that was. anybody else having trouble?

Jubba
October 31st, 2002, 11:49 AM
i found 7, but I'm not really look. I mean, there are so many more places they can put them because of the flying aspect of the game... I have almost beaten the required missions. There aren't that many of them, but there are about 100 more side missions for me to go on. I'm still trying to find that d a m n plane!

sintax321
October 31st, 2002, 01:39 PM
I have only cleard about 15% of the game. I unlocked the other islands and then stoped doing the missons. I have a been fooling around. I spent two hours driving the bikes around. I have found 13 unique jumps, 15 rampage missions, 30+ packages and some other neat things.

Has anybody figured out how to rob a store? In your stats it says there are 15 stores to rob but I can't seem to do it. I kill the cleark but I guess that doesn't count.

I have found a helicopter to fly and that was pretty sweet. Still can't find a plane though.

The whole game is much better than 3. The city looks much more real. Lots of streets and backallys. THe charachter and car modles look awsome. The new wepons kickass too. I also like that ever second car isn't a taxi or cop car. Over all it is a much better game :)

Yeah i know Thor, I'm there. Its phat. have you found the other helicopters? I have found 4 so far, but there is one more that eludes me and I still can't find the **** plane. I have reached the point where I can't do anymore of the main story missions so I'm going around and doing all the side missions and collecting property...

thoriphes
October 31st, 2002, 10:43 PM
hey, me too. i'm wondering if that's pretty much where the game leaves off. most of the side missions are pretty difficult in themselves. it says i've completed 20% of the game, but i remember from GTA3, that when i beat the game straight through (no side quests), it said like 37% or something low.

oh one more thing, when you find it, buy the car dealership place. it's got 4 garages that can hold up to (i think) 3 cars each and has a spray n' paint place right there too. it's also got a racing side quest thing you can start in one of the garages.

Jubba
October 31st, 2002, 11:38 PM
lol its funny that you said that, I just bought it today, and I finished the street racing. Go to Ocean Beach and buy the "Pole Position Club" Once you buy it, go into that hall in the back and enter the first door on the left, watch the girl dance until you spend about $600 (takes about 10 minutes)...then leave that room. Go back into the hallway and enter the last door on the right...its pretty funny, digital showgirls. I can tell the boys and girls at R* had a great time creating this game....
