Is your version of PS7, PS7.01... I'm pretty sure that's a common problem if you've upgraded from 7 to CS but it fixes itself from 7.01 to CS. What it should be asking is if you want to update your text, which is what 7.01 fixes in the upgrading area. Yea stupid I know... that's a common error that should be included in CS upgrades... but it's not. What I'd suggest is uninstall CS... reinstall 7, upgrade to 7.01, then upgrade to CS. Hassle... yes... but it's the solution :D.
Sorta off topic... but I'd like to point out that this is most commonly a Winblows error not MAC (extremely rare on MAC) ... yay score another one for MAC.

Macs... horrible? FOR SHAME :P
Anyway... don't go back to 7... CS is soo much better, if not only for the new improved file browser and it's underlying capabilities... keep it for the simple fact that you can do nested layer sets. That in itself is, as big as when they added the multiple undos and the layer sets, BIG!!!! :D

Happened to me as well, probably caus I was opening files creating on MAC on my PC (and it might have something to do with the 'maximize compatibility' CS save option)
cheers
