A bit too bland honestly. Less drop shadows (especially around the menu buttons), more white space in between the blue squares. More color perhaps. And I don't like the font you used, but that's my taste.

Good start, but too plain yet. Like to see it if you personalized it some more.

Im starting to get sick of sites that are very similar to yours, they all use black drop shadows around for edging, people need to think up new designs!

do you really need a box that big devoted to news - especially when you already have a recent work part? the three titles for the boxes are all different - why not make them the same for consistency? where is your logo going to be once you leave the homepage?

there's so much going on around the borders that it's hard on the eyes. for instance, look at the bottom right corner: baby blue, lighter blue, white, dark grey, light grey, gradient dark/light grey, white glow, striped grey.. all within about a 50x50 area.

whats wrong with sahdow for edging? if it's applied in the right way it's good, i dont have a problem with that, beside ppl use that for years and years :) .. however I have to agree with most of the comments above esp the font.

Since i'm only 15 and have never really taken a formal design course (or programming course for that matter), i know i suck at design and am really looking for some critique, so your comments were helpfull.

I've been playing around with some designs and came up with the the following 3 designs, i like 3 & 4 the best. They are very similiar to my current site design- but whatever. The only problem i have with the designs are i couldn't find a good place to put my logo.
Tell me what you think of them.

Me neither, and I'm 30. Still, my design skills developed over the years. Just practise and be critical and honest to yourself. Be hard on yourself. Look around on the web, in design portals etc, to see design you like. Set goals. Have fun. Stop when frustrated or if it doen't work the way you want and go something else, go to the woods and walk your cat.

The other designs, I'm sorry to say, are the same. Still bulky and bland. Clouds are soooooooo overused already, get rid of them, unless you design for an airline ;). Font is till ugly, too bold. I understand the jpg's are scaled, but still. The rotated menu buttons are not subtle enough for me. You can do better than this, I'm sure, go for it, just keep working on it! Good luck man.
