Remove Program

I always go into Windows XP's control panel to remove programs. Then I restart the computer when necessary. The thing that bugs me is that the program folder still remains in C:/Program Files with a bunch - if not all - of the program files. Is this only happening on my computer?

No this is common sometimes.

If you have removed the program via add/remove you should be safe deleting the contents of the folders afterwards.

Why does Windows keep those program files?

Typically they contain user information on settings you've changed. Many users for some reason want to be able to uninstall then re-install and have the program operate the same way it did before uninstall. So manufacturers have taken to leaving these settings there.

Oh, I see. Like a high scores list on a game. But it should remove all the big files from the program files folder, right?
