I have been stuck here and I have never looked at any of those other links in the google search.

One day I was searching for my name on google and I stumbled upon this site created by a guy called "Kirupa". Since I couldn't find Kirupa in any phone directory for the BHam area, I simply changed my name to Kirupa, and took on the Kirupa identity.

That's how I stumbled onto this site.

Well i was taking the continuessly srcolling image tut in the days of Flash 5 over at flash kit. this guy named Kirupa was the author of this little thing and so i clicked his link and i liked the colours MUCH more than flash kit's. so i finished the tut here and then used and abused more and more tuts. i then looked at the boards and wanted to comment on ONE post, ONE...lol about 1920 some odd posts later...lol. glad i disliked the flash kit interface...i can tell you that!

I used my best friend. He was telling me all about this cool informative site that has tutorials. I see him at class everyday. He also helps me with his homework. So, I asked him where I could find a site that teaches me how to make a flash movie (shut up you) cause it was my first time and he said to go to kirupa.com. Well anywho - I found Kirupa when I was backpacking in the hills of Google. There I was, just me against the wilds of the Internet. Shapless in the hands of fate....

I cant quite recall what it was which drew me to the wilderness on that day, but I saw this wonderful creature. It seemed a bit timid, standing alone - apart from the others. I studied it, took notes, then approached it finally after a week of observation.

Aside from the time getting to understand this beast and its ways, this has turned out to be one special creature.

What lost said - they sponsor the site and/or offer prizes for the contests, etc. It works out quite well, and I am not interested in barraging visitors with huge or even small ads. Some tiny pixely ads that blend well with the site is always good. Anything beyond that is too yucky for a design resource :)

ok: in high school i sort of discovered a thing i like a lot: website design. well, i realized that to get a good job, i need to get ahead of the game. so i looked into the things out there that will be the future of the web. I then fell in love with Flash. Only 6 months ago I opened flash for the first time. I became SO grossly involved that i spend virtually every waking hour trying to become a better flasher. so i typed in something like "really good flash" or something generic,lol, into google and i stumbled upon PIXELRANGER's site. You guys know who pixelranger is? well, he's considered one of the best Flash developers out there. Well, in order to get better, i needed to start asking for advice/ help / etc. So I e-mailed the guy. He was good enough to give me some pointers and some good references. He gave me 3 links: A) ultrashock.com B) flashkit.com C) kirupa.com. I ended up at ultrashock because i htought it was pretty. however, i didnt like their tutorials much, so i went to flashkit. they had a horrible color scheme and the site was just too blah for a Flash site. well, i stuck at ultrashock though for some odd reason. over the next few months, i started coming to kirupa for a tutorial here, and a tutorial there. After a while, i realized how pretty this site was, and how excellent the tutorials are.

Then the turning point: I took a class on photoshop this semester. it was held in the Mac tech lab at my school. Well, the macs here suck (i love macs though). I kept coming to the lab though instead of my dorm room because ... well i dont know why. the browsers suck and it took FOREVER to load the forums as ultrashock. so finally i was like, "screw it, i'll look into the kirupa forums."

HOLY CRAP. i got as many posts in this forum in a week than i did in 6 months at UltraShock. I love it here and this is by far the best forum community i've ever been involved with. and I've been in a lot of forum communities (i got like 50+ emails stored on my "register" email account, lol).




so, to end this sweet story of love and affinity, i wish i would have started coming here a lot earlier and you'll be seeing alot of me from now on :)

I found Kirupa through my course, see I first picked up flash when it was flash 4, back in the day, and I loved it. But then I left highschool, and well. I got back on track with MX, and I had to relearn all the good old syntax and the newer stuff too.
I found Kirupa through the Multimedia course (That also brought me to MX) I'm just completeing now. My tutor was reall annoyed at all my advanced questions so she sent me here :)

It was the unibrowed monster yet again. It held me strapped to my chair, and I had no option but to turn to my monitor and try to find a way out of here!
The long hours behind the screen had taken their toll. I had become totally isolated from the outside world. The monster had broken my will. My only desire was to Flash all day long. And now I spend my days here, hoping to create the ultimate Flash application.
And the monster? I have never seen it again......until......

Before sophomore year I was trying to make a gif/movie frame by frame in PS, by copypasting legs, heads, arms etc, over and over. Then my hard drive filled up.

Sophomore year I learned javascript to do a site for a class. This OTHER guy's site had a cool text effect and I was jealous. Somebody told me it was done with flash.

So i got flash and a book about it for christmas. It as so awesome I learned everything in the book as fast as I could.

I had heard of a thing called 'forums' that sounded a little scary, but nevertheless like a good idea. I searched, and Kirupaforum answered my questions about the limitations of masking.

My first post asked about skewing movieclips dynamically. Sen answered within an hour! (And I had thought nothing could possibly be faster than email).

I was hooked!

(I later realized that in looking for A flash forum I had found THE flash forum - Thanks kirupa!)

I was looking for a good flash site. I went to Flashkit. Asked 20 or so questions and never got an answer.. easy questions too. So, I did a google search.. found the Kman and 4 others working on this site. They answered all my initial questions right away.. been here (off and on) ever since.

Blind date.. ok here is how it went down

I quickly called up, and before i knew it we were on a first date. Somewhere in the middle of a Advanced Actionscript Elasticity tutorial our eyes met. Things have never been the same since.

Now i cant get enough of her, its almost like a sick sick addiction, but i have learned to share with the many others who have fallen for the one they call Kirupa....
